Truthfully, I removed the suitcase because axlebacks and catbacks are outrageously priced for this car compared to every performance car I have had. A $100 muffler delete and a 35 lbs weight reduction was a no-brainer. For my uses, I have not experienced any adverse effects.
I don't remember if it was here, but there's a guy who runs in the mid nines, Justin Keith, I think. He said that the car lost 3 mph without the muffler in-place. Can't find that thread. May have been another forum.

If the suitcase prevents drag, would aftermarket mufflers cause more also? Since they typically use the two separate mufflers on each side instead of going across?

Another thing is, you 1LE and ZLE guys have much more downforce from the factory. Add to that a "parachute" in the form of a factory muffler delete, and now you exacerbate the downforce+drag dilemma. Us LT1 guys have a much lower drag coefficient and much less downforce, so the parachuting effect of the suitcase delete is less apparent when compared to the 1LE and ZLE trims with all their extra downforce.

Yes, I would imagine so, and the more downforce of the trim you own, the more the the suitcase delete slows you.

I don't understand this suitcase thing... How could you not be able to just bend up a sheet of tin to negate any effects of the shape of the 'suitcase' having been removed?

I mean, good comments that people shared so that others are aware, but most comments were spoken like it was an insurmountable problem of removing the suitcase and you just had to put it back on. It doesn't seem like it'd be hard to fix any aero problems of removing the suitcase.

What all do you have removed? I’d really like to get mine mid 3,500lb but I don’t want to lose too many creature comforts.

Mid 3500s would be fantastic and I think a reasonable goal.

(Even though this would not be cost effective for the weight you'd save)
If money were no object, would it be possible to replace the larger suspension bolts with titanium bolts & nuts?
If so, would there be any issues with using titanium bolts in this application (i.e. loosening, dis-similar metals touching causing corrosion, pre-mature wear)?

*I wonder how much weight would be saved if ALL bolts and nuts on the car were replaced with titanium?

Katech lug nuts are cheaper and work well (I have used them 2 years). Like holding potato chip's, they are really light...
