For me, this is my last new car. I will ride into the sunset knowing I owned the best car I ever had. I will never have to make the decision to go EV.

Probably works if you are getting a SS check. But even then I doubt your Camaro will get you by for 20 more years.

Bold statement but …….

At 73 getting to 93 might be a stretch. My grandsons will inherit my Camaro.

I'm with Dev here if the Camaro goes EV only. Chances are I am a bit older than you . . . and in 55+ years of driving I've never needed a truck often enough to justify owning one. Or ever wanted one, to be perfectly honest.

Now maybe GM fails with EVs and your statement still holds, but in 10 years it may just be ridiculous to hold on to the notion an ICE is the best answer, even if the question is most enjoyable to drive.
Don't underestimate how important that single factor can be. At least for some of us.

Probably true, but of all the various performance metrics and subjectives, that's among the least important criteria. It certainly is in our car shopping. A little sparkle in straight line performance is one thing, but not when it's allowed to get way out of balance with everything else - including that highly subjective matter of actually enjoying the physical aspects of driving (as in, not being just a passenger with a steering wheel in front of him).

Whatever is the very last year of the Camaro, I will probably upgrade to it and keep it forever.

Another legendary name to be tarnished by the modern garbage. Mustang Mach E, anyone? Whether the Camaro will be transitioned into an EV sedan or not is up for debate. But I think everyone can agree that the days of the larger motors are numbered, and not just for the Camaro.

I'm now thinking of duplicating my purchase in the last year of the Camaro... i hope it's later than 2023.

I’m hoping when I eventually upgrade to a Zl1 that it won’t become a $60k paper weight years later. I was going to buy it as my last fun car. It would seriously suck not being able to get gas because it’s either very hard to find or only affordable if you’re rich.

This is EXACTLY what I have been thinking about lately and wondering if that would happen. I know none of us know what the future holds but its looking pretty bleak to be a car enthusiast and that does not sit well with me at all.

The only thing I need to choose an alternative to a Tesla Model 3 is an EV with a decent if not sport-ish looking exterior, and an interior with an actual dash that is more than an ugly slab. When I saw the first unveil of the M3 and that dash I thought to myself "OK...so they haven't finished the dash yet..."

I know many people don't care. Some will say the simplicity of it makes it better. I say it's just making yourself feel better about your purchase.

No...just no. I don't want a horrible looking dash with a huge screen slapped in the middle. Give me an actual interesting dash with driver focused controls in front of me and a infotainment screen that doesn't look like you taped an iPad pro to the dash.

/rant.

If that is indeed what the future will bring, which I'm not at all sure about, I hope they will at least retire the Camaro moniker and let it march off the stage in glory.

A new "performance EV sedan" in 2024 is a giant when a Tesla model s plaid can run a nearly 8-second quarter mile today (and even that is kinda weird, the car cannot be modded at all, so the only possible "mod" is ditching weight, eventually the driver, too, I presume).
