A8 Max HP? (8L90)

Anyone know how much HP the A8 can handle stock? Been looking everywhere for this info and can't seem to find it.. I have a m6 looking to trade in for an A8 and take it to 1,000whp. Only going to be doing roll racing with it

After 800 I'd start looking at beefing it up. At 1000whp it's not a matter of if but when it decides to let go.

If it's tuned properly and you don't skip shift it, it will hold 1000 for a while. How long is hard to say. As Puddin mentioned, It's not a matter of if but when...

Agreed.

The tuning has a lot to do with how long it will hold up. If you strip out a bunch of torque management, even a built one will die prematurely.

I plan on taking it to a race proven motorsports for their stage 5 package build and tune, so the tune should be solid. Although I did inquire today and they told me they have done several stage 5 1000hp builds on the stock 8L90 and haven't had any issues.

Is there any shops on the east coast that build these 8L90s?

Mine survived 250 passes down the track and 13,500 miles. Many of those passes were with a motor that made well over 850 at the wheels. Its still in the car with the new owner. The trans and converter never were removed from the car even though I went thru a couple short blocks. It did break the diff as it just couldn't handle anymore launches.
