Tail light wiring
Morning All
I have seen a few threads for this but they didnt come to where I am 100% sure about my options. I have a Euro spec (Australian) 2SS which has the reverse light in the rear bumper. I am looking at putting a rear diffuser on it which will delete the reverse light. I have Euro spec sequential indicator tail lights on at the moment and want to go to the US spec ones which have the reverse light. Will I need to change the wiring to make them work or is it already there? I was thinking I would need to move the reverse signal from the current light to the plug for the new lights at a worst case, but want to be sure before I go spending money. Can anyone shed some light and help me out? |

Bumping this
I have since found out that the US lights are wired differently to the EU tail lights. So far if I put the indicators on the reverse light blinks, the indicators come on when i put the brake on and the brake lights dont work at all. The only thing that works is the running lights. Looking back through the previous threads there was a few wiring diagrams to the lights, which dont match what the car seems to have at all. Does anyone have a pinout for an EU tail light at the plug to the light itself, and one for a US so I can compare and rewire accordingly? |

Hey Stalker, here is the unified diagram for the rear light assemblies from the service manual.
T4F is the RPO option for uplevel HID lighting (RS/SS/ZL1), and I think T90 is the EU/AS spec taillight+reverse lamp combo option, at least based on the RPO master list that says "T90 LAMP,SIGNALING AND MARKER(EXPORT)". A minus sign before the option name means a particular signal path is only applicable to a car with that particular option not installed. Hope this helps.

Thanks mate this is helpful, more so with your explanation.
Both diagrams have a BCM signal on pin 2, if im looking at my plugs correctly my car and my euro tail lights have pin 2 as a blank. Pin 5 which isnt listed on the schematic seems to be the running light signal. I guess if i put the turn signal from 3 to 1, put the reverse on 3 then that should sort those out, not sure what to do about the brakes and the wire on pin 2 that I dont have. |

Hello,
You must invert pins 1 and 3 and do not connect terminal 3 of the reversing light and connect the red wires supplied with the kit and you will have the indicators, stop and position. The reversing lights are in the taillights, while the Europeans have it in the diffuser. I tried to connect the reversing light of the diffuser to pin 3 of the connector of the rear light, it does not work! Do you have any idea how to connect the reversing lights from the diffuser into the rear lights? Thanks
