Vehicle ordered question...

I put in my order on March 1st. Today I reached out to chevrolet directly (via the web chat thing) to check and was told this - "your ordered vehicle has been accepted in the system, but hasn't assigned a Target Production Week yet."

Just want to be sure that this is normal, and also whether, given that we're already in mid April, the car is still likely to get built this year. If not, will I be looking at a '23 model? What happens if Chevy announces that the 22s won't be built anymore? Or, since they have confirmed that mine has been accepted, is it definitely going to get built??

I've ordered several cars before, but they were always super on it about updating me, and it seemed like I had every one within 6-8 weeks. This one has been more difficult and it seems like no one really has any valuable info to share

If you contact them again via chat, directly ask for the status code. I found from experience they will not provide it unless you specifically ask for it, presumably because most people aren't familiar with their meaning.

I don't recall what the cut-off was for 2022 making it or not, so you will need to look for that somewhere on this site, but you will need the code.

Regarding TPW, yes my order had been accepted by GM (went 2000 and above) without yet having a TPW until a bit later. So that alone isn't an indication that GM is feeding you misinformation

Hope this helps,

Geoff

Thanks. I don't think they're feeding me misinformation, I'm just suspicious that although they fully know how many left are going to be produced, they're not letting anyone else know until they see how these orders play out. I wouldn't be surprised if we get to June and suddenly my dealer is telling me it's too late and asking if I want to order a 23 instead - which would be fine, but I don't like being kept in the dark.

In comparison, we just ordered a Tesla for my wife's new daily, and they immediately told us it would arrive between July 27th and September 1st. So we're expecting to get it some time in August. I wish Chevy would just tell me, hey, we're behind but you'll have this in July at some point

I'll ask for the status code, but like you said, i'm one of the ones who wouldnt know what to do with it anyway.

Haha... Well, if you haven't checked the first post of this thread, it's worth a read, but in the end yeah there isn't much we can do other than hope our order moves forward ASAP!

That's normal to be accepted by GM (2000) but not have a production week. Production has to accept it (3000) then assign a production week. For me it was 8 days from accepted by GM to a scheduled production week (01/04/21 to 01/12/21). But, that was typical production times prior to the supply chain issues; these are no normal times. Your order was accepted by GM, so that's good, check again next Monday to see if it went to 3000 (accepted by production).

Once you do get a TPW the date isn't locked in stone. The Blackwing I ordered has been at 3100 for a while and the TPW has been pushed back twice. Unfortunately, with parts shortages and transportation issues there is nothing to do but be patient.
It can get worse once the car is built. Know of a few people whose cars are finished and then sit for 4-8 weeks before they are shipped.

ugh that would be more frustrating. Once the car is built, I want it in my hands asap, not rotting on some dock or in some yard

My ZLE was finished building last week and its been sitting waiting for transportation. Placed my order 01/14/2022 and i think now is the most agonizing period so far. The fact i know its built and litterly can be in my hands in a few weeks

I bet! Well, at least you know that you are getting it and will have it in plenty of time for summer
