Supercharger noise on cold start
Sometimes when I cold start my car I'll hear this sort of whirring/rubbing noise that sounds like it's coming from the supercharger and it seems to go away after 30-45 seconds. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is it anything I should be worried about? The car seems to be running fine.

Yes mine has the same noise which sounds good to me. There’s a supercharged LT4 under your hood!

It seems like the more miles you get on the car, the noise is noticeable. I bought mine used with less than 500 miles and in the beginning the noise wasn’t there but since I have almost 17,000 miles it’s more noticeable.

All jokes aside, my '17 used to make a kind of bearing going bad sound during cold starts. Then was fine after a minute or two of running.
Thought maybe the supercharger bearings were going bad or maybe something wrong with the pulley system. After listening around in the engine bay after a few cold starts, I figured out it was a couple loose bolts on my passenger side header. Not sure why it made the sound it did, but tightened them back up and no more sound. |

That’s the sound mine is making but somewhat faint. It stops when it warms up. I still say it’s the supercharger and normal. I know and have heard supercharged engines sitting at idle whinning away so that’s why I think it’s a normal sound that they make. This is the first supercharged car I have owned and it’s definitely different sounding than a naturally aspirated engine.
