Secondary Cat Delete

Seriously considering having a muffler shop cut out and weld in a straight pipe in place of the secondary cats. I've seen a thread regarding primary cat delete but couldnt find any concrete information regarding removing ONLY the secondary cats.

Has anyone done this? Not expecting any gains, mostly looking for sound.

The secondary cats are not hot swap able like the primary cats. You will have to have them cut out or do a full catback replacement.

Do we have to have a tune when removing the secondary cats?

No tuning needed, the secondary cats are not monitored.

Should only be throwing a code if there is a leak. I.e. Bad welds or bad fitment

There are some that claim a loss of torque too... I have not done it but want to.

I just got mine deleted this afternoon. Granted I have not had long to drive and it's winter so I couldn't go WOT just give it 3/4 throttle for a ramp up to highway speed. No CEL on mine. Slightly louder and a little more gurgle on downshifts or if at a high RPM and just let off the gas and let the RPMs fall while holding a gear. During regular auto mode I don't hear that much of a difference around town. If I had to pick a unscientific arbitrary sound gain I would say 10 percent louder. I would imagine the M6 guys would get more enjoyment due to they can drive the way I was mentioning easier. There is zero change in volume with the NPP valves doing their job at cruise. Overall I'm happy with it. My local muffler shop charged me 60 dollars and the car was done in 30 min or so. At the end of the day it sure beats the prices for a pre made pipe plus the added cost for AFM valves in my case. Also there's no perceived loss of torque but no increase in felt power. I did not expect any loss or gain. I honestly think those negitive claims are in their head. You will have a bigger power difference based on weather and operating conditions than this mod. All of these are my opinions not facts.

My passenger side valve rattles at times too.
