2018 1le radial problems
Hello, I recently bought some 17in radials from a buddy. After throwing them on the car everything seems to be fine but after about 2-3 minutes of highway driving, I’m receiving a “service stabilitrak” and “service rear axle” message. It throws the car into quiet mode and turns off ABS and stabilitrak.
I took the car to a place where I could see under it without jacking it up to see if anything is hitting but I couldn’t find anything, which leads me to believe it is just something to do with the sensors. My question is, what steps should I be taking now? Would spacers fix this issue? Those with 17in radials, what tire size are you guys running? It’s sitting on 275/40ZR17 currently and I didn’t think that would be a issue. My front tire size is 285/30ZR20. |

sounds as if youre outside the envelope of tire diameter and it's setting off the system, this is definitely a thing that can happen when you go outside the systems parameters like the wheel is turning faster, or slower and the system wigs out.

May be a dumb question but is this going to affect anything with my suspension components? |

You need a tire that is very close to the OEM tire's diameter. Rim size doesn't matter.

Your diameter diff is 6.9% You want to keep that below 4% at most from what I have gathered.

Problem you will run across is, with a 17" tire, you could have a rathe tall side wall, which may make finding the right size tires interesting as well and make the car feel like it's floating around when you make a turn. I do not know how much of a problem either of these will cause you, but you do want to be aware of them before you buy a tire.

you need a 26" front tire, as well. i used an 18x5 with a mt sportsman sr front tire. i wouldn't suggest making pulls with the current setup, the car will be all over the place.

Curious. Why the need to go from stock wheel sizes with 1LE package, to small wheels with tall sidewalls tires and loss of handling capability? It's not unheard of in snowy, icy Michigan for those that drive year round, with slightly smaller wheels and snow tires. Wondering about San Antonio reasons

Stock tire height 25.7". I think you can go down about 1 " no problem.

305 tires will fix it, happened to me with trying to run a 28 inch rear and 26 front. tires need to be same height.

305/45R17 is recommended I thought? I'm sure 40 won't be a huge diff but might be a enough to still flag?
