You think the US has markups?!!?

Dad wanted to get himself a brand new SS down here in Panama (C. America). I got my fully loaded (gfx, rs, ss, 21") in the US at MSRP back in Sept. for $43,989. Anyway we go down to the Chevy dealership and they have 3 SS sitting around. (Been there for a few months supposedly). All are A6 1SS. The cheapest one? $58,000. And you guys are complaining about markups in the US!

Actually a lot of dealers are still high 40's for 2010's which in my mind with the 2011's already on the lot is criminal. $58,000 in a BFE country (so far from the factory), I'm actually surprised it's as cheap as it is. But to be so close as in the U.S. or Canada and the prices be so high... that's robbery. Two completely different issues.

You guys would be better off getting one in the U.S. and boating it over.

When I was getting serious about my 2ssrs I looked all over the northwest(I am in Montana) because I figured the best prices would likely be in the bigger cities, that being Seattle, portland, Boise. That was not the case. In fact, my local City Motors here in Great Falls, MT had the best prices around. Fully loaded it was hard to break $40 unless you upgraded to the 21" wheel package with ground effects.

Mine was right at $42K and that was with doubling the bumper to bumper warrantee. Its hard to see where they justify adding $16K to this for a lesser model camaro!!!

I've seen everything from 1SS's over 40k to 2SS's under 36k. It's bizarre how they come up with this "MSRP".

Is everybody here forgetting that it's in Panama? You can't compare it to the prices in America.

Precisely what I was saying in my first post to this thread. Along with that, how much does the dollar translate to over there? Or was the listed price the conversion to the American dollar?

Don't forget, foreign country import duties in some countries will add 50% or more to a car. So it's not always the dealers fault.
