"Trap Doors" / Flaps in Front Wheel Wells. What the heck are they?
Anyone know what the heck these are for? They are on both front wells. The driver side happens to be right under my CAI. Definitely has me thinking. Replace plastic with a screen, or offset the door to get cold air in there? : ) They certainly are not air tight as it is.

It's probably for getting a wrench in there if you need to work on the engine. At least my best guess.

They go straight through the wheel well. I was thinking some sort of access panel, too, but there's really nothing there - no fog light access. Mystery indeed.

I think if yhou opened it to let air in you'd want to make sure no water can get to your cai filter being that close.

I wouldn't want to use that as air access with all the dust, dirt, sand and tire spray from wet tires that would come through there.

If I opened it up for air, I would install a very fine mesh screen. Definitely have to stay out of the rain, though...

what about cutting a few slits at the top, then putting a screen on. That way you can minimize the water and dirt....

yeah i was looking at that also. i was thinking of a way to do a cold air intake but tire is in the way and like others said it will throw water and dirt up. maybe to help with the stock air box? if you open it with the stock there does it go into it? i will check mine out tomorrow i am getting back after a month of working on it for sema.
