Brake Pads Ceramic or Not?
So I purchased R1 Concepts slotted rotors and hawk ceramic brake pads.
I am thinking of trading in my Hawk Ceramic brake Pads for Hawk HPS. In your opinion is it ok to run ceramic pads on slotted disks? Also if you were going to run Auto Cross would you use ceramic pads or HPS pads? Is the noise that bad? I just need some information as to what I need to do. |

The only real benefit of ceramics is low-dust. If you really want low-dust, then run the ceramics. For any other sort of criteria i wouldnt recommend them.
I installed ceramics on mine and dont even think i'll buy another set when they run their course. The braking power just isnt there (a hair worse it seemed), so I wouldnt use them on a road course. You'd be fine in autocross, but dont expect to be blown away. TL;DR: Only run ceramics if you REALLY hate cleaning your wheels. Thats it.

Man after watching all the video's I could find and reading other forums. I really just dont know. One site stated that hawk pads are picky on break in. Another said Ceramics will do fine. Another said, ceramics not so good. I mean where is the scientific study... Someone stated dont use slotted rotors with ceramic pads. So far all research has not pointed this out. Is there a no no using slotted rotors and ceramic pads?

i wouldnt use either of those for any type of motor sports.
any pad you choose needs to be bedded properly for optimal performance and low noise.

Ceramics are low dust and low noise - the trade off being that they have less stopping power |

Ugh, after further reading.... Regular blanks and some good pads are where its at... Thinking of this... Is it really worth shipping back rotors and pads for blanks and hawk hps pads...
Or no auto x this year and save for next year blanks and pads. hummm... |

Keep the rotors and return the pads IMO. I would not AutoX on ceramics.

I wouldnt worry much about the rotors. I'd just trade the ceramics for something more worthy.
