In 1st, I can ease into the throttle say 50%(can never go WOT at any rpm or speed), in 2nd I can ease into say 75% (can never go WOT at any rpm or speed), in 3rd the car does fine above 30 mph if I ease into WOT, so I guess the slowest roll I can do is in 3rd at 30 or 40mph.

Sometimes I wish we had dynamic AWD with a strong RWD bias, only as much torque sent to the front wheels as absolutely necessary to prevent the rear tire roast fest.

Exactly...When I was bolt-on E85, I could hook from a dig or anywhere even when it was 47 degrees out with DR an pull 3.5s 0-60, 7.7s 0-100...a 305/35/20 555r at that. On street tires it would just blow the tires off below 40 mph.
Even now with the Whipple setup on 10-11psi I can still launch from second gear when its 45-50 degrees out and pull some 3.1 0-60, 6.2 0-100 times.

Bigger, better DRs. I spin too, but good drs make it much less. I'll of course still spin if I just smash it to the floor without easing into it regardless. Unless its a full on a hot big tire slick on a prepped track.

You have to pretend you’re on a gravel road and feather the gas to get it going

In a M6 car 20mph in 1st gear is only 2500 rpm or so. The gearing in M6 cars is really long. A8 is around 3500rpm in 1st gear at 20mph with stock tires.

Combined with the torque multiplication effect from the torque converter, it just means it's even easier to break loose in the 1st gear in an A8/A10 than an M6. Even the M6 has trouble gripping as it is when conditions are not perfect.

Short of a prepped track on DR and a good burnout is going to hook in 1st, or 2d WOT at ~20mph. Pedal control is paramount. Thinking you can mash it in 1st or 2d is the only thing wrong here. The best street DOT max/ultra summer 305+ isnt going to hook up doing that.
