My car is to loud now, ways to quiet her down?

So a couple months ago I ended up getting catless ARH headers and borla atak catback and I have 2 xpipes the one that came with the headers and then the one with the borla system and NPP, and the car sounds amazing. Start up, idle and even low rpms it has that nice V8 growl and all throaty but once I hit 3K rpms in like any gear the car just screams and it's pretty raspy and I feel like it doesn't sound good. I don't take the rpms up anymore cause I just feel like my car is so obnoxiously loud and raspy that I shift around 3K. Would adding cats help with this? Or is it the ataks that make it sound this raspy?

High flow cats would help somewhat, but i have them and feel like my car is too loud too. I’m going this route:

awesome. I went with the Borla 60608, but your setup is awesome.

Thanks, it was Sakudog’s idea originally. The AWE Touring with secondary cat deletes was loud before, but sounded amazing. Adding the 2” headers and high flow cats made it insane... enter the Magnaflow diesel muffler in addition to it all.

just ordered ARH long tube headers. How was the install? nervous to do it on my own.

Btw i decided to just connect it to stock NPP muffler. Heard lots of them with headers to stock muffler and it sounds really good

Thanks for the link. I have used this set up on two cars, my 96 Vette, and then my 2011 2SS. Using this muffler with the rear muffler delete created the perfect sound for me. Civil when I wanted to be civil, savage when I wanted to be savage. It takes all the unwanted high pitched raspiness out of it, no drone, no resonance.

Now that I know it will fit on the sixth gen, it's time for someone to take my money.

I had my mechanic do all the work since he had to tune it anyway when he was done so idk, only took him a day to do the entire exhaust system

I have Kooks 1 7/8 long tubes with no cats and Borla Atak. Added the Borla resonators and it sounds great now. No change in performance. it was way too loud before.

I guess you got it fixed and sounding the way you like it, but I know what you are talking about. The NPP, even in stealth mode just doesn't sound good at all at higher rpms at WOT. However, at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle at about 3-5k rpms it sounds very good, something just happens when it goes WOT at hits higher rpms. The timing cut at the shifts makes the sound 10 times worse and it just sounds broken.

I know you have a aftermarket exhaust, but I have never found a aftermarket exhaust that seemed to fix this issue either.

However for some reason (and I know listening to a video clip is different from hearing it in person and the microphone is also in different locations), this guy's NPP sounds amazing:

He says he just has the stock NPP with TSP headers with their "catted" x pipe. I really don't understand how his can sound so good but mine and a lot of others I hear have the obnoxious rasp at high rpm and WOT.

Also the Corvette NPP does not have this issue at all and sounds so much better to me than the Camaro one, I wish I could take a C7 NPP and put it on my Camaro but im not sure it would fit given the Corvette is made for the transaxle and low clearance and stuff.

Borla resonators totally got rid of my header rasp. Sounds deep and aggressive now. I shoulda installed them from the beginning. I had high flow cats on but it was still very raspy. Don’t overthink it, just put on the 60608 ...
