V6 camaro
general question...thinking about getting the V6 Camaro, I like its horsepower and the fact that it takes regular gas. Things look like every car is going to eventually be turbos or take premium gas, or go electric... if someone buys a car that takes regular gas, does regular gas have to be in production for 10 or 20 years? Or, if regular gas is no longer available, can you just put in premium gas...

I really can't make sense of what you just said lol. With that said I have a 18 V6 for my daily driver. It has more than enough power for that

I don't see the end of regular 87 octane gas coming anytime soon.
I also recently read an article in a car magazine saying that many car manufacturers see the end of 2-3 liter turbo or supercharged engines coming soon because of other engine improvements.

Very happy with my 8 month old V-6 M6. I paid $2.25 this week at Costco for regular. For the naysayers,it is indeed a Top Tier gas they sell. 335 hp is plenty for me. My Boy Racer days are long past.

None of the classic "boy racer" cars have over 335hp anyway. The current V6 Camaro is excessively powerful for a road car.

I use 93 Exxon Mobile in my v6. She has plenty of power for the public roads. I have already paid one $1000 speeding ticket!

was using 89 octane in my RS.switched to 87 during the hurricane as i couldnt get 89.no difference unless you count that extra 40 cents a gallon buying 89 costs.have run 3-4 tanks of 87 through it now and still no change.

I've been running ethyl in mine since new. I suspect you'd never notice a difference in performance unless you're timing it on the track or have it on a dyno. I do it because it's a high compression engine and the extra cost is negligible to me and might be offset a little by higher gas mileage. I don't really think there's much of a down side to running 87 assuming the computer is going to correct the timing to prevent knocking.

I have been running 93 octane here in Memphis ever since I bought the car. I have small intake and exhaust mods with no tune. Car is an automatic and consistently get 30mpg or greater on the hwy. I also removed the exhaust valves and it goes into 4 cylinder mode more often now. Power is still very good

I love my V6 as well and one of the key reasons I got the V6 was that it runs on regular gas. Premium is not even "recommended" so it is tuned to develop the rated HP and torque on regular gas, unlike the turbo 4 and V8's. They really do need premium. The V6 does not have the gobs of torque at the lower RPM's of the V8 but when you get the RPM's up the car is pretty quick. And it gets fantastic gas mileage. I installed an MBRP axle back and it brought out how nice the V6 sounds and it has awesome rumble at start up, idle and low RPM's and howls so nice at the upper RPM's.

I love my V6. Daily for 2 years. No major issues except the shudder, which is gone. I get anywhere from 28-35 MPG.
