Door Edge Guards - 2024 Camaro

Hi 6th Gen Camaro Owners -

Can anyone advise if GM still makes door edge guards for 2024 Camaros? If not, how about a recommendation for good door guards from a reputable company? Really want to prevent chipping, which is pretty easy to do. Many thanks. Tommy

I would get clear ones or just be careful. My car is a 2016 with no door edge guards and there are no chips. Those black plastic guards look horrible. (Just my opinion)

Check these ones from Xpel for about $15: https://www.xpel.com/universal-door-edge-guard-kit.

My dealer installs them on every car they sell “at no cost.” I’ve had them on a dozen other cars as part of the PPF package, and I’ve never had one tear, yellow or peel off.

I second the Xpel suggestion, in fact I may give it a try myself (although I have no idea how to make a clean "turn" without any creases using a strip where the edges are so close to each other).

Being somewhat OCD about opening the door and always parking as far away from the next car so the (typically non-OCD) passenger doesn't ding their door either has allowed my to keep my door edges intact for 5+ years now (hope I didn't just jinx it).

The Xpel material is very flexible, so you just “bend” it around the edge of the door. The material is also available in two wider widths.

In my humble opinion those doors edge guards are hideous. He would be better off going with something a little more subtle like a paint protection film or commonly known as a clear bra. Here are some links on Amazon to different sizes. Just make sure when you apply it you apply it wet. You put your slip solution in a bottle and use the squeegee to apply it and remove all the air bubbles or water bubbles. A slip solution is just baby soap and water.

XPEL - XPF05U100 Door Edge Guard Roll 1/2" x 100' https://a.co/d/69eHF9P

XPEL R4003-P Clear Paint Protection Film Roll 6" x 84" https://a.co/d/hlAOPKj

My entire front clip bumper and hood are all covered in ppf as well as my sweater, side skirts, rear bumper and door sills. At 40,000 miles I have zero Rock chips or scratches.

I think he was implying to fold or bend the PPF over the edge of the door skin leaving a small lip on the backside so it can adhere and be trimmed.

I wrapped my hood with matte ppf and left a 1/4 lip all the way around that I could tuck and trim on the underside of the hood. Better to do that than trim on the edge of a hood or door and risk cutting paint.

Yeah, I should've worded it more clearly, but that's exactly what I don't want. Trims and creases on the underside of the hood I don't care much about, because I rarely open it and it's a "machine space" anyway.

However, the inside of the door edge is in plain view every time I open the door, so ideally I'd want one smooth, uninterrupted PPF line/edge that I'm not sure I will be able to pull off at location #1, even less at #2 (see photo below).
