If you leave the inital browser page open after you sign in, you don't need to add more days. It even works if you sleep your computer (with the browser window still up). My "3-days", lasted about 5-6 until I got everything I wanted in my spare time and finally shut it down

Yes, that trick works great. I've had it up for two weeks until my PC forced a restart.

Service manager requesting full engine replacement = about as good as one could wish...*for the time being*, meaning, until we see it happen. Hoping for exactly that...!

UPDATE -

A new engine has been authorized by GM. The order is placed and the dealer expects to have it and associated parts by the end of this week with 2-3 days for the swap. They hope to have the car back to me by the end of next week!

Glad you have a clear solution to an unclear problem. I would caution about the optimism on the engine swap timeline however:

My dealership took almost 2 weeks to swap the engine and then cut corners on the reinstall (didn't torque all nuts, wiring harness tie strap reinstalls, missing screws, nuts, bolts, cooling lines out of position, improper amount of trans fluid). Getting it done properly (fixing their mistakes that I caught) took another 10 days and repeated trips.

YMMV, but I suggest you be vigalant and go over the car with fine tooth comb (engine bay and underneath). Best bet would be to have them put it on a lift for you to inspect the underside when you come to pick it up. Then inspect the engine bay after they put the car back on the ground.

Trust but verify is how I operate. I'll certainly pay close attention on how the wire harnesses are routed to prevent burns, etc, look over clips, check the starter bolt, etc. I'm lucky enough to have a 30+ year guy doing the swap, someone who also builds his own race cars. So, I'm not in the hands of a kid cutting their teeth. Hell, he was doing an engine swap in a sedan the first time I came back look at the car. Experience matters, and my dealer has been awesome to work with.

Experience will help no doubt, but may not be quite enough.

As I understand it, part of the problem is the number of labor hours ($ reimbursement to the dealer for mechanic time) that GM provides is insufficient to actually do the engine swap without cutting corners. If the dealer does everything methodically, following every step in the service manual to a T, it will take > 17 hrs, but they only get reimbursed for 17. So there is likely a lot of pressure to rush the job, and that's where the reassembly mistakes can happen.

Trust but verify, as you say.....

They expected 3 days for the swap. The process is attached for those that are interested.

Glad to see they made the correct decision and will replace the engine. A few words of caution: Crate engines do not come with a new pilot bearing installed. It is an additional part that must be ordered at the same time as the engine is ordered. So please check and make sure they do that correctly. I had a 2SS which had a crankshaft bearing let go and subsequent rod bearing failures at 10k miles. Dealership tech did not order nor install the pilot bearing when installing the engine. Afterwords, I complained about shifting problems and the transmission failed a few months later and the harmonic balancer went bad. I had a different dealership replace the transmission and the tech laughed and said those jokers never installed the pilot bearing.

The instructions from GM do not mention a pilot bearing for the A10 engine swap. Is that a manual transmission component and not an automatic transmission component?

Good point. I see you have an auto, so the procedure should be different. My situation was with a manual transmission. Sorry about that.
