So I ordered my CAI one and had it shipped to a buddy in Vegas since it cannot be shipped to CA. Takes maybe 30 minutes to install. I put it on two weeks ago and love it. Figure when it’s time to smog I’ll just put stock one back on real quick and go get smog. Not a big deal! Car definitely feels different.
The only good thing is the recent change where you don't have to smog for 8 years. Your 22 won't have to get a smog until 2030. I'm in the same boat as you being in Cali. I ordered the Corsa intake (looks only) and had it shipped to my ex in AZ and picked it up when I picked up my kids.

Why not get a K&N sticker for the side of your car for a similar horsepower bump?

I'm not looking for anything major as far as HP gains. Even if it's minimal I think it looks way better than the stock air box and intake hose.

Will it fit with my "Turbo" badge on the side too?

The GM CAI kit comes with a code sheet that clearly states how the dealers get paid so it's a no brainer for them.. Without the sheet you won't get the reflash as part of the purchase.. The difference in the engine roar is worth the price alone..

They cannot sell it anymore! I tried multiple sites and even if they did you will not get the code for the dealer to do the reflash required for tune. Multiple sites told me flat out including dealers GM put a complete stop sell on the part#.

I was able to snag the last GM cold air intake kit in Texas back in November. I called a dealer and they said there was one left in the state and they could have it shipped to a local dealer, then i took it to them for install and re-tune. I doubt you’ll be able to find an OEM one anywhere except those 3rd party gm parts sites.

Frankly, I'd just let it go at this point, it doesn't add appreciable performance and it seems gm are no longer willing to play the CARB certification game for our cars.

This. Plus I don’t know why people are willing to play Russian roulette with their warranty for something like this. I’ve seen enough threads on here about folks whining about how their dealer won’t honor the warranty because the car has been modded. The GM intake? Okay, yeah, it’s covered so that’s the one to get. If you can’t, and go aftermarket, don’t come on here someday complaining that your car is throwing codes and GM won’t honor the warranty. Just my .02!

I can/would only go with the GM at this point on my new car. If I did live in another state I might consider another option, but only after the warranty period is over. That was what I did with my MINI.

you only need the tune if you care about the CARB sticker. If you don't you are g2g.
