What is everyone's opinion on the GM CAI? Would you buy again?

Thanks, Jan

If you want to make sure your warranty is not challenged, go for it. The GM CAI adds no appreciable power, and it's pretty expensive for just the look. Some prefer a fully enclosed air intake box, it's a good choice in that case as well.

(Yes, I had it and I switched to the Roto-Fab that was cheaper and looks better IMO, although it doesn't add a whole lot of power either, in all honesty.)

Anyone know the correct GM part number for a '22 2SS 6.2l? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

Same part number as '20 or before, hasn't changed.

Thanks.

Everyplace I’ve checked so far says it is no longer available for purchase.

Huh, just took a look and even playing the year game it seems its discontinued. I imagine GM saw the writing on the wall after 2020.

I'll look around at the different GM parts companies on the web and see if any of them have it. If not what does everyone recommend as an alternative?

K&N BLACKHAWK COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM?
K&N TYPHOON COLD AIR INTAKE SYSTEM ?
K&N Series 69 Typhoon Cold Air Intake?
ROTO-FAB COLD AIR INTAKE?
?

You can no longer order the GM CAI. It requires a tune and GM will NOT provide that to the dealer. I have researched this enough and spent hours on phone with GM becaue I had to remove it from my ‘22 2SS/1LE order to get my order accepted. Cold Air Inductions produces the GM one. They are the same. The tube internally is a bit different so that is why you don’t need a tube with the GM one, but performance is the same! It’s also cheaper. Only other thing is the CAI one you do not have the C.A.R.B cert for smog but if you don’t live in a state that requires it no big deal. If you do just take the 15 minutes to put stock one back on when going to get smogged. I’m putting the CAI one on next week. I had it shipped to my buddy in Vegas since they won’t ship to CA.

So if CAI makes the GM one and the GM requires a tune does the CAI require one also?

The MAF tube and filter are different on the GM part. So the MAF sensor sees it as completely different, even though they look almost identical. CAI tunes theirs on a flow bench to match the signal from the factory airbox. GM just releases a tune. Well at least they used to...
