Does it qualifies as mid-engine because the engine is mounted mid way between the front 2 fenders?

I watched the video at the end of the link provided by Farmer Fran. At about the 4:30 mark they show the airflow over the car using smoke. Is it just me or does the air flow look pretty disruptive and not smooth as one would expect for a car like this.?

It was my understanding, generically,

Front engine is up at front axle
Rear engine is behind rear axle
Mid engine is over/ in front of rear axle

All moot soon though, as we will be saying 1 motor, 2 motors, 3 motors or 4 motors

There is:
(FR) Front-engine Rear Drive
(FF) Front-engine Front Drive
(FMF/MF) Front-mid-engine Front Drive or Mid-engine Front Drive

(FMR) Front-mid-engine Rear Drive
(FMF) Front-mid-engine Front Drive
(RMR) Rear-mid-engine Rear Drive

Now for the mid-engine designations, there is a bit of gray area. Some guidelines state that the engine must be fully between the axles, in front OR behind the passenger compartment, while others state that the center mass of the engine being in between the axles also qualifies.

Yea all that mumbo jumbo is cool but regardless of what who ever says, my eyes don’t deceive me… that is a front engine rear transaxle car just like the last handful of pre C8 Vette generations… that is not a mid engine car.

Most Corvette generations prior to the C8 Corvette were considered to have a front-mid engine layout due the engine residing behind the front axle line. The C8 is now considered a rear-mid engine layout as the engine is mounted ahead of the rear axle line unlike the Porsche 911 with its rear engine layout being more aft of the rear axle line.

The 911 still has front struts? El cheapo for that level.
The C5/6/7 driveline should have made its way to the Camaro starting in '03.
There's no good reason a rear mount trans is just on a $300k pony car.

The new 911 GT3 RS has unequal control arms up front now.

All the others are still struts
