wow, car prices are out of control. I don't care how much HP that thing has, it's a compact car.
Why would anyone buy that over a GTI? 14k more for 100 HP? |

Remember, this isn't a Focus meant for every Tom, Dick, or Sally. Its a niche vehicle within a niche category, for those who care about hot hatch performance. Just like those willing to play the "extra" cost of a '16 Camaro SS over its competitors prices; for those who want it...it's worth it. Asking "Why not just buy X instead, it's cheaper?" is a silly way to look at car purchasing. But I digress. It is worth noting that the RS is priced very competitively with others in is class.

I have seen rumors online that if the Focus RS is a success a RS Fiesta may not be far behind.
The Fusion ST, I am not sure if it will be a ST or a Sport trim. There was some spy shots of a camo'd fusion a few weeks ago that had bigger wheels, tires, brakes, and quad exhaust. They figured it was a Fusion ST, with the 2.7 Eco and AWD - this is the same drivetrain in the Edge Sport, which is on the Fusion platform. So I would guess it might be a Fusion Sport rather than a Fusion ST. http://www.autoblog.com/2015/09/02/f...sion-st-spied/ |

Ford will have to watch an RS Fiesta as that would crowd out the ST Focus in price.
GM will play there when they can make money there. GM has had many HOT cars in the past that died from poor sales. Cobalt SS, HHR SS to name a couple. Ford is just Americanizing a Focus model that has existed for years. So the investment isn't that big so it's worth a risk. There are a lot of folks that would like to see GM bring the Astra hot hatch here, but Opels are Buicks in the US and a HOT HATCH doesn't fit Buick. So we are kinda screwed there IMO. http://www.vauxhall.co.uk/vehicles/v.../overview.html

Chevy should make something out of the 130r concept, give it decent power(180-200hp range and 200lb/tq plus) with six speed manual. Make it nimble and fun car to drive, make it affordable and have wide customization. Would make a nice daily driver for the younger folks out there.

The Fiesta ST already prices at $21k and the Focus ST starts at $25k, so with a few options Fiesta ST is priced neck and neck with Focus Titanium's $24k. So if our hypothetical Fiesta RS is priced $10k above a Fiesta ST, similar to the FocusRS over the FocusST, we would see it priced at about $31k. That $5k difference seems to hold pretty much across these two cars' equivalent trims. $31k for an, AWD, 250+hp (I'd guess 2.0EB), may seem a bit much for some. But with how many FiestaST's are sold I'm sure there's at least some sort of market for such a car. What would a FiestaRS's direct competition be?

I'm curious to know if these are the "OverBoost" numbers. As Euro regs do not allow manufacturers to advertise temporary outputs. However there is no such restriction in the US. Typically "OverBoost" nets the EB's about 7-8% output increases to both hp and tq. So, the tq at 350 seems about right but the hp is a little low for that to be the case.
Some may say, it's just a Focus. But it might just sting a little more if you're beaten by just a Focus.

Awd system is limited to a degree. Can't put much more power to it.
