Brakes, Post Burnishing
Hi,
Just wanted to get some feedback and see if these looked like they should? My gut says they didn't get hot enough and what I wound up with was better then not doing the burnishing, but not the way it should ultimately be. My car has 2k miles on it. Ive done all the required maintenance and am going to track it next weekend. I skipped the initial 60-30mph stops as the manual says you can if you have over 200 miles on the car. I Did 18 60-15 stops as I smelled the brakes and the last 3 or 4 stops there was some pedal fade. Drove for about 7 or 8 miles without touching the brakes, and then did 25 stops from 60-30. Had some smell and fade here too. Here is a picture of how the front pads and rotors looks after I got it home. I know the manual says the pad edge "may" be white when the procedure is done. The rotor is nice and grey where the pad surface is and the brakes feel more responsive and smooth on the ride to work this morning. Just looking for some feedback based on the picture (Aside from wash your rims LOL.) Thanks! Last edited by Snakebt6; 08-13-2018 at 07:23 AM. |

they look fine, make sure to replace ur brake fluid with some DOT 4, I've been using RBF600. Which track are you going too? I was at Sebring last weekend along with 2 1LE's and we smoked most everyone there in our group.

Thanks,
The Firm in Starke. I'm up in Jacksonville. I was going to do the 18th (Saturday) or Friday the 24th. Ive only been with my 15 SRT Challenger to Thunder Motorsports park in NJ and a small road course at Englishtown (in addition to the drags.) It was fun and it went straight fine, but it didn't turn too well LOL. I'm looking forward to going with the Camaro. Ive done the oil and rear end but didn't change the brake fluid. I was going to go once and enjoy myself and not push it. If I go back and plan on pushing it Ill change the brake fluid. I'm a little timid about the car actually and wanted to get to feel it out a bit at my own pace. Last edited by Snakebt6; 08-13-2018 at 10:29 AM. |

All sounds good. Take a look at Chin Motorsports, a really top notch company that does track days all over the country, I usually do Sebring events as it's close for me. Hit me up if you are going to do any of their Fall events, I'll probably do the Saturdays for Oct., and Nov.
