Where are you seeing 0w40 being recommended for the 2019 LT1? It’s 0w30 in both the Vette and Camaro currently.

I’ve been reading several posts and official Dexos and Mobil 1 posts. I can’t honestly find much difference other than Dexos 2 is for use in Europe mainly as well as it’s used in both gasoline and Diesel engines where as Dexos 1 Gen 2 (current) is only for gasoline.

I do see where the Vette marketing lists Dexos 2 0w40 as being standard for track and street use due to viscosity difference.

So until I see some more info I’m sticking with Dexos 1 Gen 2 5w30 via Mobil 1.

That's the impression I got Adam, that the 0w40 was for track use.

The new Mobil1 0w40 dexos2 oil is "low ash" to reduce carbon buildup on the valves in high performance GM GDI V8s, LT1 included. Year doesn't matter, it's just marketing limiting the initial scope to avoid a run on it and pissing off the Corvette customers. Right now availability is very limited and price is in the $10/qt range... so my very near term oil change will be with regular the 5w30 I have sitting in my garage waiting for me. Once availability increases and price drops a bit (by the time the following oil change is due) I will probably move to the new stuff.

Thanks for the info. Makes sense. And yes I saw the prices for it are kinda high right now. Just find it odd that bulletin doesn’t include prior 6th gen Camaros or vettes, etc.

Sure. Also decent deal on the pennzoil platinum dexos 1 ver 2 at advance auto. ~ $33 with free boss oil filter (picked up for my Toyotas), free pair of socks,lol and $10 mail in rebate. I picked up 20 qts over the weekend, between advance and Wal-Mart.
