Average life of brake pads
I have a 18 1SS with 7600 miles. No track use. Normal driving. How many miles did you put on before needing new front bake pads?
Thank you |

I’m at 50k and was just wondering the same thing. Checked them about 10k ago and will check again next oil change

no such thing as average life. There are way too many variables. Mainly, it really depends of how you drive your car. More specifically, how you brake. It also depends on the type of pads you use. When then start squealing like a pig, it may be time to check the pads and see how much meat you have left.
My daughter can get 3-4 years out of her pads, I can get about a year. |

I had hoped my pads would last longer but that would have required me to not drive like an a**hole. Since I couldn't manage that last part, I was only able to get 21,000 out of the front pads.
They were the stock pads, 4 piston Brembo calipers, no track driving. Just a ton of traffic. |

Brakes are for amateurs and keeping you from rolling backwards on a hill.

I got to 20,000 miles with mine when the wear indicators started chirping last week. But I also ran three track days at Daytona with it and 5 or 6 autocrosses.
Both front and rears have worn down visually to about the same thickness so I just ordered both sets.

I'm going to measure the thickness when I get the pads in. If they aren't excessively worn I'll run them, if they are I can get new discs pretty quickly.
