Not entirely sure what the issue is, but you can turn off the automatic start-up in the settings.

Mine will stop seeing the USB thumb drive until I restart the car. Could be related to your issue.

Are you using an Apple cable? Mine has given me very slight issues sometimes with the carplay lagging when I try to skip songs, or lagging to show the album art/song titles.

Yeah i am using an apple cable. I also see lagging at times when it does work. Do you ever have an issue where carplay just does not load when you plug the phone in?

I remember having this problem when i first bought the car and the dealer did a software update which worked until recently

What else do you have plugged in? That USB port in the console is only capable of providing so much power, and if you overtax it, it will likely shut down and you'll lose connectivity.

It's also possible that the electronics in the adapter are degraded. You could consider picking up the USB 'hub' that is in the 2019/2020 cars which and swapping that in. You will add a SDCARD slot and get all new electronics to ensure that the problem isn't the hub itself. I believe you can hunt these down for $30 or less.

On my Camaro, Android auto works sporadically or not at all when wifi on the phone is turned on.
My new Silverado doesn't care if wifi is on or off.

Be sure that the software in the car is up to date as well as on the phone (manually launch the Play store and check for updates to be certain). Also, ensure that the cable you're using is high quality. Also, do a Bluetooth pairing of the phone (don't connect the cable) if it doesn't show up as an available phone or connect on its own... When you start the car, if the phone is not connected to USB, it should show you that Android Auto is available via the notification shade. If it isn't paired via BT directly, it can't/won't show you this.

Although the hardware in the Gen6 Camaro through 2020 (not sure yet on 2021) can't handle wireless Android Auto, having the WiFi enabled on the device should have absolutely no negative impact on the device.

My other vehicles apple carplay work seamlessly but my Camaro usb jacks suck. They are loose and any movement of the cable disconnects Carplay and only rebooting the phone will start Carplay up again.

And the position of the jacks in the console is terrible

You may want to try this $20 upgrade: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showp...postcount=8757

I did it mostly for the SD card reader, but the USB ports on the new media panel are tighter and they're horizontal, which is easier to use, at least for me.
