Cold air intake
Search function isn't working. I know on the SS's, a CAI doesn't do much. How about on the ZL1 with all that forced induction?
Thanks.

Personally a CAI isnt going to give you much more than a cool sound. It will be more beneficial down the road when you start upgrading other things. I doubt a CAI is going to give any more performance on a ZL1 than on a SS ect. The MAF is going to regulate the airflow at the end of the day in stock form.

You might see 5whp at peak with a CAI, at most. Usually this mod is a starting point for more mods whether it's headers, tune, pulley, and so on. The biggest change that you'll notice will be the sound of the engine. Unfortunately, the supercharger is fairly quiet on the LT4 so no real volume change there.
I didn't do a before/after dyno pull on my car, but I swear I felt more "seat of the pants" power lower in the power band once my Rotofab was installed. That could totally be in my head, though.

Thanks guys. I probably won't bother since the car is staying stock.

The MAF does not regulate air flow, it measures it. |

You would be surprised how many folks believe CAI w/o tune will result in 15-30 HP, measured by their butt dyno!

The sound improvement is worth it

I'm not suggesting this is accurate, especially after the computer adjusts over time and mileage, but there are dyno videos showing gains in excess of 20 to the tires. Again - many people say the computer adjusts over time, though, I have yet to notice a good comparison that proves this theory.
Al O. (if I recall) said a while ago that if there is and was a CAI on the car, even one that didn't require a tune, that the PCM would record the change in air flow. If that were the case, then, to me, a change in air flow means there is a change in power. The post is out there, and, of course, I can't prove anything either way, but the one thing for certain is that once you crack the PCM, and tune, it will allow more air flow and you'll get more power.

This car (M6) dyno'd at 596 WHP with just a Roto-Fab...pretty damn strong. My M6 baseline was 574 for comparison. I know all dyno's are different, but they seem to be certainly worth more than 5 HP.

CSP had a stock CTS-V with the regular RF and it was running numbers around that, too, and those are just about the same as we are to the tires.

A Roto-Fab CAI would be the one to get! I haven’t bought one for mine yet as I like the Cold Air Inductions CF CAI but it’s so expensive. I did buy a Summit Racing drop in panel high flow filter which is just like a K&N that can be cleaned and used for many miles.

Before and after are out there but that isn't necessarily the question...
