Questions for road course people

I recently took my ZL1 A10 to Sebring. The car did awesome. Matching my modded C6Z time by the third session in stock form even going almost 10 seconds slower in the back straight. The car puts the power down better, is very neutral. The braking was good but could be more consistent, a little scary sometimes, overall very good for a street able pad.

Questions: Have any of you guys had the car pull power on a road course? The car never pulled power till the last session that was 35 min session instead of 25 min session. I backed off half a lap and the power came back temporarily. The temp was about 78 degrees. All other 25 min session were good. Is that normal? I thought they solved this in the ZL1, granted I've heard of new ZO6's last only a few hard laps. I also had the track alignment done but the dealer left the steering wheel a little tilted off center. I noticed after hot laps the wheel got even more off center. After it cooled down it seemed to return to the way the dealer left it. Very weird. Have any of you had this happen?

I am not a road course type but when the IAT's go up and I am sure they were up on a 35 minute run it will pull timing and slow down quite a bit! I drag race so as long as I dont hot lap I dont seem to have this issue! Guys on the dyno will see this if they do multiple pulls back to back! Its normal!

Just a quick question, but I'm sure you did this. Did you remove the rain guard on the extractor? The only other issues that I have seen are some that have had trans fluid levels incorrect and following other cars to close and not having clean air across the intercoolers.

Yes, it will pull power. Superchargers are just a bitch when it comes to heat soak.

The steering wheel being off is just the alignment. For whatever reason, the ZL1 has a hard time holding its alignment out on track.

The intercooler circuit is prone to air pockets and is badly in need of a reservoir. If you go back to the track please put an aftermarket reservoir for the intercooler system and most of your issues will go away immediately. I have proven this on more than one ZL1 at VIR. these cars are terrible with holding alignments (toe) and I've had the same issue on track. ADM & Cordes make good reservoirs for our cars that are easy to install and will save you a lot of frustration.

Yes I removed the rain guard. I didn't notice any warning about the tranny being hot or didn't notice it not working properly. I guess I should be happy with it working as long as it did. I just remembering reading reviews that they couldn't get it to over heat and track threads I saw never mentioned any heat soak.

Do you have PDR in your car? Power starts getting pulled pretty hard when oil temps go above 270. If you have PDR, you can pull the data and see temps lap by lap.

Have you overheated at COTA?

Anyone have experience with the cordes reservoir kit?

It’s a good looking tank.

Another thing to watch is how long/close you are behind traffic. You've got to get the front end in clear air. Having said that, I don't think that was your problem but may have been a contributing factor.

Other guys have already mentioned a coolant reservoir and if I were you I would start there.

I've overheated the transmission once (100 degree day). The engine has never "overheated", but it pulls so much timing that I'm literally 15-20mph slower down the back straight when it gets hot.

15-20mph is obnoxious...with my setup in VA on a 94° day, it was down maybe 7mph from the coolest/best air possible. VIR back straight is really long and my car will do 164mph on the coolest days.

Would the reservoir void the warranty? I'm trying to protect the warranty.
