AFM disabler yes or no?
i got this Range AFM disabler to help me keep in V8 mode all the time. I heard AFM has lifter problem with time so im just curious if i should do DOD delete after my warranty and just keep using the disabler for now
also looking to get a mid pipe without afm valves, so this device can help avoid having CEL from the valves |

In my reading , some have problems and some don't. I used one on my C7 ZO6, only had car about 3k , but I didn't want to take chance of lifter, cam , torque converter or transmission (A8) . I still have the unit 1 /2 price sale , no need on the ZL1 .

Have had it on my car since getting it home from the dealership, only have 10K miles on the car so cant comment on the lifters but I figure the disabler is a little extra bit of insurance

Using the range device will not fix bad lifters.
The issue with AFM lifters is that, if defective, they lose pressure when the engine is off, and make a racket at startup until pressurized. AFAIK, the leaky lifters were an early Gen5 problem only. I got mine replaced under warranty on my 2010 2SS, and the new ones are doing fine. If there are still leak-down or durability problems with lifters now, the range device will do nothing to fix that. It's a mechanical problem that is not mitigated by disabling AFM. Because if the lifters are gonna leak down when the engine is off, it doesn't matter whether or not they were in AFM mode when the engine was running. |

Using the Range disabler, keeps the motor in V8 mode, If I still had my 22 SS or C7 ZO6 my Range device would be used. Don't know about leak down or durability issues, may have something to do with switching between modes. , ECU switching between V8 to V4 , just don't think it's perfected , and would not take the chance . EPA mandated MPG , IMO if a person wanted a 4 cylinder, buy one. This system doesn't belong on a performance engine. If a person likes the future great , for the folks who don't want to chance it , use AFM Disabler.

The AFM delete is a truck LS carry-over concern, to my knowledge. The LT1 shares 5 trivial parts with the LS.
I have no concern with the lifters on the LT1. It's a totally different engine from the LS.
