I'd flip the air cleaner lid over.

I did that to my green lean machine in the 1980's...

Bumping this thread because I just read something about the 1LE.

Apparently, the 1LE has extra torque management (less throttle response) during low rpm? I read this is to help easing into the throttle when coming out of a turn or shifting.

Can anyone confirm this is my issue? Or would a tune get rid of this?

I have the same issue, it is actually closest to 2000-2200 RPM for me. My car did it when it was all stock, and still does it with a ported throttle body. The throttle body doesn't seem like it made much difference at that engine speed.

The biggest issue is in traffic, where you tend to keep going from lets say 1500-2500 rpm in second gear, I'm constantly trying to drive around the flat spot. If I'm able to accelerate a bit faster, I go right past it without a problem. It is most noticeable in lower gears, but I can still feel it in 3rd or 4th gears sometimes. By the time you get to 5th gear, you can't feel the flat spot anymore.

I think it's just a poor factory tune. My car is a 2016 SS, M6.

Exactly!
This sounds like the exact issue im having.
I have a tune though. So maybe something with the 1LE?

It's not just a 1LE thing. I have a '16 SS and have the same problem. Mine has done it since stock and now it's tuned with a Roto-Fab and Pray ported TB/IM. It's worse than ever now. On top of the hesitation I get very non linear throttle response up to 3K and then it takes off like a bullet. I can't even use rev match because it bogs out when hitting the gas after downshifting. I'm going to try another tune from a different tuner to see if they can smooth it out.

Are you driving it with the throttle in track mode? If so it’s doing what it’s designed to do. It will feel weak at lower rpm and then take off. Put it in sport mode and it will feel way punchier at low rpm.

Sport or touring mode. Track mode really softens the throttle for track use.

Could be tune-related. Mine is stock, no mods or tune. I use the Vitesse Throttle Controller on setting SP5 and experience almost no lag anymore.

Might be worth a try...

Nice thread with no A/F data.
Sounds like it's lean under load.

I'm not going to add any details because it would just be what has been mentioned before, but I have a stock 2017 SS Manual that I drive in Sport with rev match on (mostly) and I have noticed the same throttle response / lack of power issues as well when below 3k rpm.

My speed density tuned GTO is 1000x better in that regard. Night and day difference in throttle response.
