Borla 60608 Resonator Fitment - INSTALLED
Has anyone installed a Borla 60608 Resonator on a ZL1? If so were there any fitment issues? Having installed the 60606, I know there isn't a bunch of room to play with as I had to adjust the mid pipe to keep from coming into contact with a tunnel brace.
I know someone else on this forum installed one on an 6 Gen SS but I'm just not sure if there is a major underbody difference between an SS and ZL1. Last edited by kwav8r; 09-02-2018 at 08:32 AM. |

Perhaps I am the SS guy you are referring to, here are pics of the 60608 resonator installed on my SS, with the 60606 and ATAK system, also using the NEP cat delete pipes.
Although not the best pics of the actual 60608, but you get the idea. ----

Did you try the cat delete before you added the restonators? How much difference did the resonators make? Can't imagine they would quiet things down much being so small.

Overall I am very happy with the sounds now and I would recommend the resonator from my own experience.

Judging from your pics I don’t think there’ll be any problem getting the resonator in my ZL1. Underside looks much the same (not surprising). I’m still running the OEM suitcase (I like the stealth mode too much with the NPP) and waiting for the right exhaust note to come out. To me, deeper is better. Again, thanks much |

OK, so got the Borla Resonator (60608) installed and I couldn’t be happier with it. After initially installing just the 60606 (secondary cat delete w/ X-pipe) the exhaust note was too raspy and loud for me especially at three quarters to WOT, I also wasn’t a fan of how loud it was on start.
The 60608 deletes the center (straight mid pipe) section and goes on as a single piece. While I was concerned about it fitting and making contact with the tunnel bracket toward the rear of the car it actually gave more clearance to the bracket and it takes the guess work out of which way to twist the mid pipes. Exhaust note is definitely deeper, not as loud inside the car at 3/4 to WOT, but it’s still aggressive and you still getting some good exhaust pop when decelerating. Overall couldn’t be happier. I’ll try to post a video in the next couple of days. |

I installed my 60606 yesterday.. It is a little rowdy in track mode... But I like it. Glad you like your new setup too.

Why not go with a Magnaflow 2 into 2 resonator? Heard they are even quieter and sound better.

When you are referring to "cat delet" pipes are you talking about the secondary cat resonators or the primary catalytic converters? Thanks

Nice setup OP. Glad it worked out for you. My guess is this will go wild with the people who don't love the raspy sound of an uncorked LT4.

Secondary cats are deleted, the primaries still sit inboard of the O2 sensors. The 60606 deletes those cats (pun intended). FWIW, some folks refer to the OEM secondaries as resonators but, when you look inside they definitely look like catalytic convertors (honeycomb material).
