It is a supercharged 6.2 DI OHV engine. It has some parts to handle boost the LT1 doesn't and has lower CR, but thet are similar.

The peak power figures are similar, but think about how much longer that Voodoo is making that peak; it hangs in for a solid thousand revs. You shift at the cutoff and you're essentially right back into the peak of the band.

That engine will never see low revs. But when it does go as low as its designed to it'll.still be in its peak power range olin both HP and torque. Along with tight aggressive gears it'll do just fine around a track. Plus it'll actually need to be shifted less because of the broad powerband. That in itself its huge over a duration of a race. Less time shifting and less wear on the trans/clutch with less chances of missing a shift.

The Voodoo and LS7 power curves are ~1000 rpm apart. Slide either over 1000 rpm and they match each other fairly well. I.e. The bottom of the Voodoo isnt useful and above 6700 rpm the LS7 is done. The useful power band is in a different range

I will not be surprised if the Gen 5 Z/28 is faster than the GT350 or GT350R. Z/28 has better brakes and wider tires, not sure how the weights compare though.

In my racing experience, higher revving motors break more often. If I can make the same power revving between 4500 and 6500 rpm in a LS7, verse making the similar power levels revving between 6000 and 8000 rpm with a VooDoo, I will take the lower rpm, higher torque motor. Over heating is also more likely on long duration high rpm conditions. Yes the high rpm motor might be more fun, but parts breakage is not fun.

The Z/28 and the 350R are about 160lbs apart.

I'm not knocking the Voodoo because I think it's an amazing engine and a great departure from the norm, but I love the power and curves from the ls7. I really hope GM can make an lt7 come to reality.

The low rpm torque output of Voodoo it seems is a little misunderstood. Perhaps it's because of such a huge jump it takes after the 3500 mark.

It's actually very similar, yes a bit lower, to the gen1 Coyote's torque output from say 1500 through 3500. At least from what dyno sheets I've seen for stock vehicles.

It has a huge displacement advantage but is a 10 year old motor. Respectable on both ends.

An lt7 would be a beast. I would think 550hp should be doable under emission constraints etc. And that would be plenty.

These are good numbers for the ls7. Haven't looked a whole lot lately but it seems I remember a lot of them being 440-450 rwhp stock when the c6z came out.

Without low end torque the Voodoo will be more prone to bog form a dig or if you get knocked off your line than the LS7. It needs momentum.

It'll never be that low in the Rev range. If it even comes close then you simply downshift. Ford adds plenty of gear to keep it up where it needs to be.

Right. Just realize that dropping a gear won't create rpm if you're not moving. It needs momentum and probably won't be a very satisfying street car

THISSSSS. And the Z is based on a very old chassis. If it is even close to the R, its a win for Chevy IMO.
