While Puddin and KirkH have had their share of problems, I don't believe that '17& up cars would be any less likely to experience these issues.

I still have my 2016 with 24xxx miles on it. It has clunking strut mounts from what it sounds like and a pinion seal leak under warranty but other than that its strong as an ox. Mine is an M6!

i wouldn't do it. wait till a 17 or newer pops up if going with tremec m6. if going for the auto, then get teh a10 gen since the a8 more likely to have issues. Test drive it well and make sure it doesn't have the common rear shudder issue.

17 SS 6 speed. Almost 42k miles. I run it hard in spurts. Too early to tell long term. But mine has run like a top since new.

I bought a 2016 ss 6sp six months ago. 23k miles.
Had the slow start issue during the heat of the summer. One day it wouldn’t start at all. Changed the battery, which looked like original, and it’s started great since then. We’ll see next summer for the real test. Got an annoying rattle in the door too. It’s been a blast to drive. I got a great deal on it and would buy again. |

In general the reliability of my 2016 Camaro SS2 MT has been great. There were some minor issues that were corrected by the Dealer:
1. Hood misaligned 2. Front black wheels paint peeling 3. Inside rear mirror blurring 4. Pandora's Bluetooth connection interruptions. Updated and fixed itself. I highly recommend this car is a keeper, that would bring many enjoying driving miles.

Thanks for the info, I do love my 13SS, but love the 6gen too. Need the auto, manuals are no fun in traffic.
Just got back from test driving a 16, definitely has more pull than the 13, but also drove a Vette Z06, what an absolute beast! I may opt for a Vette instead, as it is my dream car. Time will tell, I have no idea what I will do at the moment. Quote:

Nothing wrong with a Z06! C7 or C6? You might consider a 6gen ZL1 if you can find a used one with low miles and a decent price! The ZL1 has the superior 10 speed automatic also since you don’t want to shift gears.

2016 SS ragtop bought new, almost 4.5 years and 14K miles so far - zero issues whatsoever. Great car. Garaged and not driven daily in my case, FWIW.
There is pretty high battery drain in these cars - especially for those cars not started and driven regularly. That's true for most modern cars. I found the battery dead a year ago - but charged it up and now I do a full charge every month or two depending how much I'm driving it. I do the same for the other cars I don't drive all the time. So at this point I am still on the original battery. I prefer this car to the C6 - I owned two coupes. Now - the Z06 is another story - I would love to own one of those, love that LS7 motor, although the valve-spring issue is something to watch and eventually upgrade. |

Shudder, which was fixed
Detonated #6 bearing @ 18,500 miles which destroyed the whole engine. New crate motor installed under warranty. 5000 miles on new engine no issues. That's "it" ... still love the car. |

I don't even really care. I got a free 18,500 miles and a new engine with only 5000 miles on it now... and a brand new engine warranty. |

I bought my 2016 1SS with just under 11k miles on it. I have been diligent about preventative maintenance on it. I changed the rear-diff fluid within a month of owning it, and I inspect all marked bolts near the rear diff to check for slippage - Some had issues with the bolts backing out.
According to the CarFax history of the car, it had its battery replaced and the center console/infotainment system replaced prior to me owning it. I'm not sure what else was done to the car, if anything. Nothing else in the service records. I do have A8 shudder when the transmission is cold, its worse when it gets colder than 60F degrees outside. I drive in manual mode almost exclusively to prevent the hard shift from 1st into 2nd gear when the car isn't warmed up. There is supposedly a firmware update that dealers can do on the A8 transmission along with a fluid change but the service departments near me had no idea what I was talking about even though there is a GM bulletin out on it, so I never bothered to take it into the dealer for it. The starter struggles from time to time and I expect that it will die one day - There have been at least two major revisions to the starters on these cars so I am confident that when it goes, I will get the new one and won't have to deal with it again. Other than that the car has been amazing. Most fun I've ever had behind a wheel. I think with most things if you take care of it, it will take care of you. I do all my oil changes, am picky about what oil I put in the car etc. I will probably do another rear-diff fluid change at 50k or something. I will take the car into a shop to have them do the A8 tranny drain and fill a few times with the newer fluid. By far the worst issue I've had on the car is I've had two flat tires! Driving over debris in the road. Totally not the car's fault, just bad luck on my part! EDIT: Just saw OP's latest post. Go for the Z06 Vette man - I bought the 2016 SS because it was my dream car. You only live once! |

Because I missed the MT on my prior sport cars. So far so good
