1LE Constraints

Can someone educate me on why a vehicle would have a constraint on ordering? My local dealership can't put an order in for me. It doesn't help that I had to educate them on the fact that the 1LE isn't a trim level. Anyway, what's the deal with the constraint?

A part may be low on quantity which would cause your build not to be able to be accepted by GM.

Parts constraints, manufacturing constraints, targeted build volume, etc. All of these play a factor in a specialty car like this. Same reason why there are constraints on Grand Sports, ZL1, and Z06.

How can the general public get information on vehicle constraints outside of dealerships? I don't like feeling uninformed (if thats a word) when it comes to this sort of thing. Is there a way for us to track these things? I just don't want to get the run around.

This place is probably your best bet for getting timely, accurate constraint info.

Does anyone know what was actually driving the PDR only order constraint early in production? Was it something to do with a non-PDR trim part availability? Different windshield????

GM lets dealers know what is constrained on Thursdays, and Becky posts Camaro constraints in the Ordering section. Newest: http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showth...77#post9399077

Now with all the layoffs announced at the Camaro plant, I believe orders and builds are going to get "interesting "....

Wouldn't the trim piece on a non-PDR car be identical to the normal SS (or LT for that matter)? I'm trying to think of what trim piece this could be.

The PDR camera is in a bezel above the rear view mirror.

It looks like non-PDR cars need a different trim piece at the top of the windshield.

The layoffs are effective mid-January... so orders shouldn't be affected for a couple months at least.

The third shift was added after the fact and not planned from day one. Those people probably knew a third shift job was most likely not permanent...
