I asked my dad about this. His friend from high school works for GM, as a Manager, I think? But he said its not what you think. My dad told me he only said two words to him. "Stay tuned"

Chevy needs a competitive in a straight line Camaro. The car is not selling on par with the Ford and Mopar for a reason. The Z28 is rather redundant at this point when buyers have the Corvette or the ZL1 variants to choose from.

The Hellcat is like Speaker B. Not exactly sophisticated, but tons of fun and gobs of power. The ZL1 is more like Speaker A. More sophisticated and well rounded. |

To me "more sophisticated and fine tuned" is a well sorted drag car, not the other way around. pun intended.

I would be somewhat surprised if they put the LT5 in the 6th gen at this point. The msrp would be well above the ZL1 1LE and how well would it really sell? If they did, the Camaro line would be top heavy with hi-po models that are $$$. You would think they would refocus their efforts on increasing sales, but then again with the Vette going Mid engine, maybe that's their intention.

A 755hp Camaro may also chill C8 Corvette sales... . C8 is rumored to start with much less than 700hp.

which is a major plus with a small tire. Key here is that "I" control what it does, not some guy in Detroit who is counting beans. 650hp& lbft is plenty enough to get the car deep into the 10's if the car can agree but it needs a sticky tire as well.

As soon as the mid-engine Corvette comes out, the Camaro will get the LT5. Yes you heard it here first. Just my 2 cents

There are only 2 things that will result in an LT5 Camaro and they are related.
First is profitability. GM won't do it and lose money. Second is the GT500. If GM loses Camaro sales to the this car they may need to put the LT5 in the Camaro to "maintain" profitability. The GT500 could have a halo effect GM would have to counter. GM will not chase Fiat. There is no need to do so. A straight line drag car is not in the cards other than the COPO.
