2017 Camaro SS oil change interval

Hi there!
I wonder abt the need for oil change for very short periods of time.
Using the car's oil life monitor, one has to change the oil in about 7 to 8 month period.
I drive the car only abt 3k miles a year, so I guess I'll reset the oil life monitor despite not changing the oil to achieve one year period; or in other words, will not care any more for for what the car asks.
Consulting with some owners, they take a year period to change oil.
What do you think?
Is it really necessary to obey car's instructions concerning it?

Thank you
Adelmar

If you're only driving the car 3K a year, then just change oil annually -so yes, simply reset if it is telling you to change and you have not hit the year yet.

An oil change ones a year is absolutely sufficient enough. Don’t worry what the rest life monitor says.
As long as you’re still in the warranty period I would do as recommended. For me it is almost on the spot. Rest oil life = 1 year give or take a month maybe.

I just completed the first oil change in my 18 1LE.
Looking for some help.
I've tried per the instructions in the manual on resetting the oil life monitor.
I'm having mental issues trying to bring up the page to reset it.
I find Oil Life on the DIC but cannot get it to open.
Can someone please give me the instructions step by step.
Obviously, I'm not doing it right.
Thanks,

"""Turn the ignition to ON position without starting the engine.
Display the REMAINING OIL LIFE on the multi-information display using the navigation button (located on the steering wheel)
Finally, hold down the “SEL” button until the Oil Life display changes to 100 percent""".

I guess I'm looking for the procedure to get too " REMAINING OIL LIFE " by using the navigation button located on the steering wheel without starting the engine.

Thanks,

The manual says you can also fully depress the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds to reset the oil life indicator. (car is in accessory mode of course).

That's ridiculous, your Camaro probably won't even be allowed on the highway in 20 years, drive the damn thing

if you change your oil, and let the car sit fresh for a year, the "oil life remaining" will be at 0.

It calculates, among other things, time as well.

I drive my car atleast once a week most weeks, sometimes 2 (back and forth to work or weekend cruising), and I usually change mine every 5-6 months, when the oil life reads 30-40%. this usually coincides with 3-4k miles, give or take.
