Cam install, msd intake, kooks headers, cai, dyno tune Build-500 hp

This will be my first time ever doing this many mods to a car and to tell you the truth I am so pumped. I have spent the last two weeks researching and this is my complete parts list.

223/227 .635/.635 116 lsa with stock heads
Kooks long tube headers to green cats to NPP exhaust with qtp cutouts
MSD Atomic air force intake
CAI cold air intake
Dyno tune

My goal is 490 or higher to the wheels. This will probaly be where my mods for this car will end for the life of ownership other than maybe adding a e85 tune. There is a e85 gas station across from my job. Can anyone guess what my 1/4 mile time would be and how this cam will sound after installed.

looks like a solid list. i would expect to get good gains with the cutouts open with that cam and your post cat exhaust.

i would aim toward a healthy repeatable 470-475rwhp on 93octane. 475rwhp is a lot of power.

gonna guess 11.35

I would call them directly and ask. You don't want to be wrong.

The right answer is to measure with a pushrod measuring tool(cheap), but you're gonna have to call them and ask if no one here that you can trust knows for sure.

You should expect around 30-50 rwhp from your camshaft swap. As far as it being a "lopey" cam, it's just not enough split duration. But you will know it's there. Your tuner can pull some vacuum from it to get it to lope more but spec wise, it's on the mellow side of the ladder. But it would be an excellent 1/8 mile cam . Tight duration tall lift cams bring the power on really quick while the 116 lsa would allow for a blower down the road if you choose to do so... Go ahead and splurge for some light weight titanium valve Springs. While the heads are off, if the shop doing your work doesn't have the capabilities , run those heads to a nearby race engine shop and have them install the springs and do a race valve job. That could be worth as much as 10-20 hp alone. Good Luck....

gotta pull the heads to change the lifters anyway, might as well do the Port and Polish / valve job combo. Where is Hampton Roads?

Parts are startling to arrive, the car is going in the shop Monday to begin the work. Headers should be here tommroow, and i just ordered the cam kit. Texas speed has there black Friday sale going on now just incase anyone is interested. My install will be 1900, tune 600. If anyone is in northern east states, i know a great shop whose install price is 1750 plus 400 for tune. They did my cousins 650 heads/cam cts v.

Gonna be a nice build and a great driver. Keep us up to date on how it goes.

As far as the 1/4-mile, you should have a solid 11.5 car. EDIT: even quicker with the drag radials.

Follow the fast list to see what others are doing:
