Windshield Tint / Film

So I suppose most of you have either used or heard about the windshield-type films that have come out recently. For instance 3M Crystalline and Llumar Air 80. Both are, in essence, legal for the windshield versus people putting darkened tint in.

My question is in regards to the HUD. As most of you know, most aftermarket HUDs that are being developed require you to stick a piece of reflective film on the windshield to act as the reflecting surface for the HUD.

My question is: does anyone think that the clear tints I mentioned will mess up the HUD graphics? I ask because in my Subaru Forester is uses dual cameras to do the auto-braking and lane assist thing and they said not to use the films on the windshield for fear that they would mess up the cameras' views.

UPDATE: I can personally confirm that Llumar Air80 will work just fine with the HUD.

It is a fair and legit question actually. I know of bunch of C7's and C7Z's that got the air90 done and HUD still works as before. I will confirm this myself as I am getting it done in 2 weeks.

I was also curious about this also. I used this product on my Mustang I traded in for my Camaro and I really wanted to put it on. Let me know if you do it.

I got it on my Audi S4 and it is a winner. It gets really hot here in Spokane and I could tell the difference after it was completed (the roll they had ordered was late so I had the regular windows done first then the clear windshield a couple days later).

I forgot to post here...had it done yesterday (Llumar Air80) and the HUD works just fine. Maybe even better but I have no scientific proof. It just seems a little crisper now.

I was thinking of doing this too when I get mine. Glad to know the HUD was not effected for you.

I got photoSync tint on my windshield just 65% and the HUD works just fine, no issues.
