Agreed. What kind of BS is it to even make 2023s when thousands of 2022s are still at the factory? How about conclude 2022 business first and then start 2023 business.

Fwiw...

Local salesman indicated that June 30 was the last day GM allowed customers to buy vehicles that weren't already 'on the ground' at the dealership.

That was the day I bought a VIN for a 1SS (a 2022)... The car matching the VIN already took the train ride, awaiting car-carrier/bigrig in Albany now.

Theoretically Ally could hire a repo service to repo it from GM since they own the car/title now!?

A customer at the same dealership waited 11 months for delivery for a new truck model. During the interim, GM made the payments. Also the customer had paid a premium over MSRP up front equivalent to the 10 months of payments.

If you order from a dealer in Detroit what does that do to delivery times from the factory?

Well of course GM wants to get the 2023's out before ordered and built 2022's. Mary Berra will get a bigger bonus with the 23 price increases!

Just cannot figure out how FED Ex, UPS, USPS, Amazon, etc., who ship and deliver how many millions upon millions of packages a day can give you a accurate day and some cases a time frame of a couple hours and even how many stops before your delivery. And GM just gives you the Bart Simpson silent confused empty face stare.

Once UPS gets a package UPS is the only one in control of that package. With Cars you have to get Jack Cooper to get the car, the JC to go to CSX. After that you need get CSX to route/fill the train. Next CSX has to get it back to JC and finally you get JC to the dealer.

Too many hands in the cookie jar trading around one cookie. Unfortunately, there isn't a one stop shop for car logistics. Don't get me wrong, I agree that the system should be better. However, I do understand where the confusion comes from.

Localish guy just had this exact experience.

Took 2.5 months for his car to make it from Lansing to Detroit after it was built.

I picked up my car on 7-20-2022. Had to be shipped 1 1/2 hrs away. Took 2 months to ship. Funny part is I got an email from Chevy Customer Care on 7-22-2022 saying my car was built with no eta.

That's insane! They need a 'museum delivery' like Corvette does!

As soon as the vehicle is built and invoiced to the dealership, it automatically shows it on their website as "in transit". Most likely, those won't even show up at the dealer for months if it goes the same way as the 2022 shipping issues.

Just got a text from my salesman that the car arrived at the dealership today! Should hopefully be picking it up later on this afternoon.
