Good info... not sure I felt really comfortable after speaking to the gentleman at RB. Giro Disc has been around forever and is proven. I just need to know what pad options there are out there. (track duty only) BG |

I have Giro's all the way around and love them in comparison. Bite on the CCM is fantastic, but I notice little difference. They obviously get hotter, but I forgot my laser thermometer last track outing so that will have to wait until next time.
Also, it's $1200 and $1300 a pair front and rear respectively for direct Z/28 replacement rotors in the beginning, then $400 a wheel afterward for replacement rings. They sell them in pairs, so $800 a pair. Brake pads are also cheaper, and while noisy and dusty as hell they work wonderfully. I drive street and track with them.. had a lot of hard laps on MSR Cresson last weekend and my pads look excellent. It's $400 for the front, and $269 for the rear going with Raybestos ST43's. The CCM rotors were my second favorite part about this car, but I'm very glad I converted. My bank account is happy as well lol. Edit: I FORGOT TO MENTION: When buying the complete kit, get it through RDP. He gives a discount to forum members AND gives free shipping. Way cheaper than buying direct from Girodisc. No problem! Also, I edited my post to clarify that it's $1200 and $1300 A PAIR to start out. $600 and $650 a wheel is a lot better starting out than $1250+.
Girodisc also now carries their own brand of S/S pads which I assume will be quieter and less dusty.. I have yet to talk to Giro about them, but if they work out well I might very well buy those and extra rings and swap before track days to prolong the life and keep the dust down... |

Giro disc DOES recommend a pad - ST43 Raybestos and they have a size for the rear caliper iirc again

I'll definitely need a serious brake pad as I ask a lot - I'lll be investigating all the race compounds available for the calipers... I've always run PFC or Pagid in the Porsches and Vette. |

I had the cracked Racing Brake iron rotors. They all 4 cracked after one weekend at COTA. I'm not talking little heat cracks, I'm talking large cracks that would be dangerous to run. I actually sent them back and they gave me a refund, they did the right thing, not suitable for a race track. Pads that will work on the F are any 5th or 6th gen camaro ZL1 as well as the Nissan GTR pads, which are actually a bit better as they are a few MM thicker. |

I don't know for certain, but I don't think you can reuse the hats. There is a difference in contact area of the pads and rotor surface in comparison to the CCM. Call Giro... they are very easy to talk to and extremely knowledgeable.
