Those things look awesome.

From what I understand, they have Ohlin 2-way dampers as OEM. Lotus is a drivers car thru and thru

It's too bad though that you can only get the dual clutch gearbox with the less HP AMG motor. One of the reasons for me moving to the GT4 was for the PDK

My PDK GT4 is 414HP & 317 TQ, and weighs 3,2xx

The GT4 feels and IS a good amount quicker than my SS 1LE was. Both in low speed and high speed. The GT4 pulls much harder in the upper RPM band and it is something you can feel in your seat.

Either Porsche is sandbagging their numbers and/or the drivetrain lose is minimal, because it feels and IS much quicker than its numbers on paper.
Hi, I am going to post the entire video of me in my stock 1LE, against the GT4. My SS out pulls the GT4 in low speed corners and is almost dead even at high speed. The GT4 does have amazing braking power, due to its mid- engine, but otherwise almost identical lap times at Sebring GT4 and 1LE

Sure, always fun to watch.

Too many variables though to judge based on a video. Set up is important, as is the drivers skill level.

My comments are coming directly from just getting out of my SS 1LE and into the PDK GT4 back to back as a owner of both.

For number racing, the 981 GT4 manual and the SS 1LE have very similar lap times. The 718 GT4 manual is quicker by a bit, and I have not seen any 718 PDK GT4's compared against the SS 1LE as of yet for track times.

You are dead on, he was faster at some parts of the track and I was faster at some. But at the end of the session, I pulled away a little. We had a great time and chatted in the pits afterwards.

All I am saying is I feel like with some instruction I can get my wife to turn close lap times to me if both in a gt4 and she has never been on a track but if we both take my ss 1le with 880 rwhp on to the track she wouldn't make it back much less put in a good lap time and to me its so much more fun to dance on that hairy edge then drive a car that will almost drive itself (credit Porsche for building a refined car as I think its their best chassis setup yet just wish it had 700+ hp 650 + tq so it would make it fun for me to drive)

You are not getting that amount of HP and TQ if you want it to stay a light weight sports car.

The GT4 RS will be great though (at least from an engine POV). I think it will still have the "pogo stick" damping issues that the regular GT4 has.

IMO, if you want to drive the GT4 in anger on ANYTHING other than a smooth surface, a high-end coil-over swap is required.

I saw your videos on the tube. I really appreciate your passion for these cars! I look forward to being "retired" one day and being able to do HPDE way more often than once or twice a year. I too enjoyed passing Porsches at a PCA event at RRR in my 2017 regular Camaro SS. I was in one group above whatever beginner is. My instructor got so pissed when I got stuck in log jams. He would make me pit just so I could catch back up.

Thank you, I really do love these cars, best bang for the buck track car, by far.

They are indeed amazing, especially for the price.

I have had my GT4 for 2 mths now and there are a couple things the SS 1LE does better...

GM's MRC damping is superior to Porsche's PASM and with it having a wider track, it is more stable at speed (on rough roads). On smooth roads and with the aero the GT4 has, it feels more stable at speed, but as soon as the roads turn to crap, it can get scary fast.

I will say though that once you go mid-engine, it is hard to go back to front engine. The way the moment of inertia is right behind you and centered is a sublime feeling in the corners. I can carry about 7 - 10 MPH more speed in corners in the GT4 compared to my SS 1LE and it just rotates so effortlessly with scalpel precision.

If I move on the from the GT4, it will definitely be the C8 Z06, as that is the only mid-engine car I will be able to afford (don't want the Lotus, not powerful enough)

Very well said, it seems to be the consensus among Porsche GT4 owners, they need to change the suspension. I absolutely love the GT4, I said it in the video. Both great cars in their own way.
I tried to order a C8 Z06, but refused to pay 30k over sticker.
We seem to have the same taste in cars!!

I just swamped out my PASM for MCS 2-way remote dampers. I am still dialing them in, but they are a big improvement over PASM. The damping and ride quality is much better, but still not on the same level for comfort as MRC. The one issue I am still dealing with though after getting an aggressive alignment is some front bump steer.

Regarding the C8 Z06, you can get MSRP, BUT you have to be willing to go out of state and get on a waiting list. There are a few big US Corvette dealers that are doing MSRP.

The ones I have talked to are asking for a $2K deposit, refundable up until the allocation locks.

There is something else one of the Porsche guys, said is also needed to make the GT4 better, I just forgot what it was. I would go on Porsche forums to find out.

I don’t Mind going out of state, just do not want to wait over a year. At sticker, that is going to be a better bang for your buck then even The SS 1LE. I looked around and everyone who will give sticker are sold out of their allotment already.
