Eagle F1 Supercar 3R - How many miles?

@ZL1-1LE owners

How many miles are you guys getting from your EF1S3Rs ?

I'm at 700 miles and they're already looking like it's time to go. I imagine I could probably get another thousand miles but definitely not in the rain.

Thanks

mine lasted 6000 miles wiht no trackdays.

the tread depth goes to the bottom of the tread depth indicators, not the tread itself.

it looks like a small depressed square at the bottom the treaded portion of the tire.

Yeah dude. You should be getting more than 2000 miles out of the stock tires if you’re not tracking the car. I have 1400 miles on mine and they still look really good.

Ok wasn't sure -- I just know that today in the rain I was surfing the whole time.

I see the tread indicator, the little rubber bit between the tread grooves, theres not much there but then again there wasn't much there when the tires were new.

R-compound tire bros, not really meant to be driven around on at all, just from the garage to the track and back home.

Why not? I mean driving in the rain sucks but nothing wrong with burning these up when it's dry outside.

They're no more expensive than any other 305 & 325 tire.

these tires heat cycle just like any other race tire, the tread will harden and traction will gradually fade off even when hot.

i mentioned earlier that I got over 6k miles out of mine - but what I did not mention was that they had tread on them when I swapped out a new set after about 10 months. the only reason I replaced them was because they had no traction left in them because thhe rubber was not pliable any longer, even when hot.

I drive a 4wd tundra on rainy days.

Not telling anyone what to do with their car. Just complaining, posting, or questioning a tread wear 80-100 tire, designed to get you from the house to the race track and back and nothing more seems like a silly thing to do and so I can only think you weren't fully aware of what an R-compound's purpose was... lap times on the race track, that's it.

If you want a much more versatile, longer lasting tire, I'd highly suggest a Pilot 4 S.

On rain days, stay out of the "water grooves", there is a different "line" to drive in when the roads pond. Not understanding this can lead to hydroplane and a crash. I have hydro planed twice in my former ponies. Treadwear matters.

The non-R OEM tires are horrible in rain. They were bad when new and after 5500mi yep, still bad in the rain. I cannot imagine how bad the R's are.

That is kind of a generic statement. It REALLY depends on your roads. Here in the Bay Area, most of the freeways have rain channeling groves in them and the F1 "3" tires do just fine if you stay at around 60-65MPH. Standing water CAN be an issue, but if you know your roads and be mindful, it's not THAT bad.

My rears are past the wear bars and I had to drive my car last night and choose to take surface streets. I kept it at 40-45 MPH and did just fine, better than expected actually.

Personally, I wouldn't drive the 3R's on the street at all. I swapped to a set of wheels with PS4S's and they perform much better on the street in every aspect. The 3R's take about 1-2 laps to warm up, meaning, they really never get to temp on the street = severely lacking grip.

With that said, I got 7 sessions and a drive to/from the track on my first set of 3R's. The second set was about 8 sessions with no street driving. Mind you, the rears last about double . I suppose this doesn't really apply to your exact question, but it does provide some data on these tires.

I would never drive a 3R in the rain, that should be noted.

I got about 5300 mostly street miles. Replaced them with PS4s.
