HVAC question

When I have the heater on I usually have the thermostat set to 77-80. I have the vents set to blow on the floor and on the windows (1st and 3rd buttons on top row of controls, with "auto" and "recirculate" off), because I don't like hot air blowing in my face. The heat will blow hot on the windows and the floor for a while but eventually, for some reason, switches to blowing cold air on the windows but stays hot on the floor. If I bump the temp up or up and back down, it does the same thing. Blows hot through both for a while, but then switches to cold on windows, and remains hot on the floor. When it changes the temp of the windows vents, the air blowing on the windows is cool enough that it feels like a window is open. Is this normal??

Automatic climate control can be frustrating at times. Seems to have a mind of it's own, is this new behavior, or always been that way? Could be "normal" for the vehicle, but you could have your dealer check to see if you have a sensor or something out of whack.

I just got the car in Aug, I've only been using the heater the past couple months and it's always been like that. Thought it was odd since I don't have it in "Auto" mode. Wondered if mine's confused, even in manual mode, or if anyone else's does the same thing. Thought maybe it was something in place internally, even in manual mode, when the vents are directed at the windows, to combat the window fogging issue that i've seen others complaining about. Thought i'd ask here before my next trip to the dealership.

What part of Auto mode isn't working for you? I've certainly never had auto mode blow hot air in my face.

My point was I don't have it in "Auto" mode. I am setting the temp which initially blows hot air, then randomly starts blowing cold air out of the widow vents while continuing to blow the hot air on the floor. IF I turn the temp dial up, hot air starts coming out the window vents for a while, but then reverts back to cold air.

With the temp dial set to 80 and set to blow on the windows and floor, my feet will be on fire but the upper part of the interior will be cold as if a window is open.

I'm 90% sure that even if you're not in auto mode the unit will still try to control the temperature inside the car automatically, it just won't adjust the fan speed or whatever vents you have manually selected. At least that's how my former C7 and current 2SS seems to work
