SS 1LE with OEM ZL1 1LE (A1Z) wheel / tire set

I normally don't post too much especially look-at-me types, but, for those interested in ZL1 1LE wheels or the upcoming MMR716 design, here is a set of OEM's on my 17 SS 1LE.

If you get your grinder out, they will fit, too, on a non-ZL1 1LE. Just have to taper grind your struts or run at least a 3mm spacer, probably 5mm to be safe. I have 5mm clearance to the wheel and the tire now on a set of OEM ZL1 1LE (A1Z) wheels and the G3R's with no spacer with -2.7 camber up front. No rubbing running around hard corners. Will track them in a couple of weeks.

If the color match is good on the MMR716's, I will also try a set of the front 19x10.5 (+14OS) as they will have 9.3mm less poke plus give you 3.3mm more strut clearance. Those with ZL1's have 13mm wider front fenders at the arch which will help, too.

I played around with putting the ZL1 front fenders on. They are the same at the back of the fender, along the hood, and somewhat up front at the top of the fender. However, the ZL1 front fascia is ~15mm wider at the attachment to the lower vertical edge of the non-ZL1 front fender.

Looks awesome man! I am waiting on my set of 19x10/19x11 MMR716s that I plan to use for my Auto X setup. Hopefully the finish is spot on so it will match all the satin black bits on my car, should look great especially since I have the ZL1 rockers painted satin as well.

Can you post anther shot or two from the front/rear to show the poke?

Will do later on the pics. Rims are off the car again as, for now, I'm just going to race o. The MMR sizes you are getting will be SCCA AS legal where the A1Z's I have won't be. I've got a set of the 19x10.5 (+14OS) MMR716's on pre-order to help with the poke out on the front with our narrow fenders.

Cool to see grinding also works, I may need to do that. FYI, with a 5mm spacer (required if you have max camber and stock strut), it will rub the outside of the fender under full load. Basically meaning if you don’t use camber plates, you must grind the strut.

Hows the ride? Im curious because of the calibration for the Magnet ride suspension was originally for 20s.

Also, how much did the tires cost?

I have not done more than pull out of my shop and run up and down the neighborhood plus a few hard brake events. I then put it back up on the lift and checked for rubbing. Of course, I won't know until next weekend's HPDE event, if there is any rubbing under full compression.

SEANBLURR, did you change front studs as I measure only a bit over 14mm of thread engagement on either wheel type (A1Y or A1Z)? ARP, etc. make replacements that have 12mm or more threads.

On the tires, I got them from Tire Rack - call Monty at X4496. The rates are online now from them.

Thanks to all for the compliments. They do look good. I like that they are low gloss black.

The setup looks fantastic. I really look forward to hearing your feedback on the tire grip after next weekend! This might just be my springtime '18 splurge.
