New Dyno Numbers
Got my car tuned today and happy with the results of my mods which includes a Roto Fab dry cai and 1 7/8" Kooks long tubes with high flow cats. Super happy with the guys at Redline Motorsports especially Howard and Rich

Very nice numbers. Did you make a base line pull prior to the headers and CAI. It would be interesting to know what it was stock and then what the improvement was. What gear did he do the measurement and how many pulls did he make?

Thanks, I feel good about it. No baseline cause I had the cai before the car was delivered and installed it right away. Had the car a little over 4 months and just did the headers.
Based on others baselines I'd guess it would have been somewhere between 405 and 415, just a guess. Not sure of the gear, will need to reach out and repost once I know. I'm a novice to all of this so learning as I go. 2 pulls on the dyno. |

Baseline would have let you know the gains. If you knew what other LT1s tend to read on that dyno, you could have a rough idea of the ballpark your car might have been in. Example, at a dyno in my area, my Camaro SS baselined at 395rwhp and a Corvette Grand Sport baselined at 403rwhp, so that is a ballpark for an LT1 on that dyno (small sample size though). On the dyno that you used, I recall seeing a Camaro SS (M6) that baselined at 435rwhp. This was in a magazine article about a build they did (made it a 416). Really small sample size though.

I was comfortable knowing and applying the standard average of 15% drivetrain power loss and not so much interested in a baseline but more so the end result. By your reference with the Camaro at this shop, that would equate to roughly a 4.3% drivetrain power loss from the flywheel to the rear wheels which I believe is unheard of. Would like to read the article if you could post a link. |

No baseline? Lots of info missing when that happens
Ok now to run that thing to see what your times are since your number on pump are equivalent to cars with more mods AND e85.

thankfully finally a dyno with headers and cai without e85 lol. Since e85 isnt really available around me I am always curious of the addition to headers. Nice numbers

while redline is a great shop, their dyno is a high reading one... I guess they like to keep their customers happy by showing them great numbers.... im full bolt on and on e85 and only made 467 (445 on 93 oct) at another dyno near redline called STP motorsports... dynos are for gains, not results... so take this as a grain of salt (since you have no baseline) and don't expect it to perform based on that number because then you'll be heart broken or blaming the shop when you loose to a car with supposedly less HP. Had a friend do his stuff at another shop where his car made 515 on my same mods... he felt super bad when i beat him with my 467.
He was like "the car should be much faster!!! it has 515hp" but i know in real life a LT1 on just bolt ons will never read 500HP Im local, so if at any time you need pointers, tips or whatever just let me know... i've had my 1LE for about 1 1/2 year and done everything myself but the tune... you bought a great car, enjoy it

Talked to the guys and they said the runs were made in 4th gear because the gear ratio is 1:1

Very nice. The torque curve is impressive. Nice little bump there at 4000 rpms. Congrats!

452hp, without allowing for any gains from the headers and cai. Something seems off with those numbers. Had it been a manual it wouldn't be so much of a stretch for me to believe. Yes a baseline would have yielded some info and useful data but I didn't have the extra money to justify getting one. Still think just using the average nowadays of around 8% on manual and 12% on auto which would result in 418hp and 400hp respectively is a reasonable assumption and good enough for me. That would also fall in line with expected gains from headers and cai when compared to my numbers, gaining about 30hp. Just wanted to share what I got and say I really liked the guys down there at Redline. I appreciate the supportive comments from the community. |
