Did the price get changed or did they remove other items?

No kidding. If it were a 2016.5 option, I'd be on the phone with Becky at Rodgers without even blinking. I was set for a 1SS, been eyeing a red one locally that has only the NPP and black badges. When they said what was n the 1LE, a switch was flipped in my head and a little voice started in... wait for it... wait for it.... wait.... (much like how we train our dogs).

I get the feeling that the 1LE made them (Ford) sit up a little bit. I consider that change to be genuine concern that the base was in trouble.

Without a doubt, they must have information that the base car could not compete with the 1LE, so rather than tarnish the image of the GT350 as a whole they simply eliminated the base model. Now the 1LE will get to compete with their soon to be 60k track/tech package or whatever they are calling it now. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

There were reports of non-track pack cars going into limp mode without the additional coolers. I think that had as much to do with it as the 1LE. The fact that you can now get a track pack(included in the base model) and tech package together may bode well for those who want a 2SS 1LE.

For those of you south of the border, yes. You should look at what they charge us Canadians for a GT350...

Hell, I'll just do the math right here. For comparisons sake...

If the 1LE package is $10K for us up north (I HIGHLY doubt it will be...considering the 2015 was $3,675 - realistically, it'll probably come in somewhere around the $7K mark)...that makes the 1SS 1LE $54,250 + Taxes.

A 2016 GT350TP is $72,949 + Taxes...

Considering the 2017 GT350 now comes standard with the TP, it's going to be very close in price to what the 2016 was. I am expecting it to be lower, but that's wishful thinking at this point...

Now I LOVE everything about the GT350 and if given the choice, I'd take one hands down over A LOT of cars.

But in the real world, where I have to spend my own money...there is no way in hell I can justify paying $18+K over a 1LE.

The real salt in the wound, is that while I'll have no issue getting a GT350 for MSRP, the 1LE will be had for MUCH less than MSRP...

Sorry for the rant and minor thread jack. Bang/buck is a high priority in my life.

Three or four on Mustang6g alone went into limp mode, even on cool days. I wouldn't try to track a base GT350 in warm weather.

I guess its built into the MSRP anyway, so no matter with the gas guzzler tax.

Reminds me of the C7 Z51 A8, which I had. I was pissed when I heard after 1 session (if you made it that far) it would go into limp mode also due to not enough cooling with the trans.

Never a problem on the street though, but both cars are pushed as track ready for us that want to do a track day now and then.

2017 base GT350 will not be $60K. MSRP on the R version is only $61K and some change.

Right. It'll probably cost 54,000 or so if they tack on the price of the now-standard equipment.
