It seems like no, not at this point. I *think* they are working on it. There is a Garmin Catalyst users group on FB you might want to ask.

Just pulled the trigger. Should arrive next week. Next track weekend just before Thanksgiving. Looking forward to seeing what this gadget can do.

I've done two events with mine so far and I really like it. I have PDR and enjoy that for the overlay and how easy it is to upload content to YouTube, etc. The Garmin however, lets me simply sit down with the unit in between sessions and review where I can be making changes to find time. It's also really simple to find specific laps & segments where maybe you had something interesting happen on track (a pass, 2 wheels off etc.) that you can jump right to very quickly to watch or show someone.
It's expensive, yes, and I do wish the data overlay exported with the video. That said, I don't regret the purchase at all. |

Just installed, but still have a month before next event.
Does anyone know if the the back of touchscreen needs to be facing straight towards the front of the car and vertical for accelerometer and gyroscope accuracy? I have it tilting slightly towards me and slightly pointing up. Also, I put the camera to the right of the electronics box behind the mirror, so it's not perfectly in the middle and pointing it to the center of the hood gives it an angle off center. |

Yeah, it also has a basic and advanced coaching - I had the advanced on so it's more talkative. Arnold voice would be awesome.

A little late to the thread... I'm really interested in the tech, but it's a little limited in the current iteration.
IMHO the biggest limitation is that it can only coach up to the fastest it's ever gone in that car. For a new/less consistent driver, it could be pretty darn helpful; but for an experienced driver that has plateaued and is looking to break into the next level it won't have anything to offer. I guess you can always put a faster driver in your car to set the benchmark for the Garmin, but that becomes increasingly difficult as you and your car get faster. Here's one of the best reviews I've read, from the standpoint of a serious racer: https://amtmotorsport.com/blogs/news...-racers-review I really like the useability of it, and ease of reading the display in the car. The lack of data overlay for the video is pretty disappointing at the price point. IMHO a dedicated data system will probably give more benefit to an intermediate/advanced driver for the $$$$, but I really hope they continue to develop the Catalyst and address it's shortcomings. |
