Isn't the extra $10, $20 or even $30 worth it for the peace of mind?
My thoughts exactly. I figured there was something special about the fluid for the ELSD.

Good video. FWIW, why try and out-think the engineers? They specified a particular fluid for a critical part of the drivetrain. The GM fluid keeps the diff quiet, is clearly engineered for track use, has no history of causing excessive wear or grenading differentials and will never be a reason to deny a warranty claim if there is a drivetrain problem. That is all worth a few “extra bucks” for the relatively few times you ever change your diff fluid.

My compliments to a great video, too. I especially like the flushing.

Update:

Changed the tranny fluid and diff fluid this weekend with Royal Purple Sychronmax and the RP 75-90 gear oil with friction modifier added.

Tranny seems to shift a little smoother, happy with the fluid so far.

Differential has not exploded yet. Drove 120 miles yesterday. Will keep my eye on it for any signs of disintegration.

Royal Purple is good stuff and I supported my local bidness.

Not going to grenade. Nothing to worry about. I've been using RP Synchromax and RP 75W-90 in my ZL1 1LE which is now a dedicated track car with no issues. Car has about 3000 track miles and has run in the high summer heat at Sebring and the high banks of Daytona with zero issues.

Keep an eye on Amazon. Last week picked up 1 qt of the GM fluid for $13. Delivered free under Prime. But watch when you order, some companies charge a high shipping fee.

If you change diff and trans fluid often ... Load once and crawl under the car once. Also use similar setup (Motiv) for the brake fluid flush and bleed.

You mentioned you had about 2400 miles I just picked up my 2020 zl1 and have about 3700 miles should I be changing it also? And at what intervals those GM recommend?

I use the Motive brake bleeder - it has a pressure gauge and fitting (cap) that connects to the master cylinder. Add a liter of brake fluid, connect SECURELY to master, pump to 20 psi, then bleed each caliper (upper and lower). Usually have to re-pressurize the bottle a couple of times if flushing versus bleeding. One person 15 minute job. No more stressed wife pumping the brakes and premature pedal release.

Special NOTE 1. De-pressurize bottle before removing from master cylinder.

Special NOTE 2... Test the connection and pressure without fluid. You may have to use the larger extra rubber washer to ensure no leak.

Special NOTE 3 ... Re-read note 1
