ZL1 Differential fluid change.

I couldt really find a good video on changing the rear end / differential lube in my 2017 ZL1, so I made one. Pretty straightforward and simple but you would be surprised at the people that think its not that easy. Hopefully this video can help someone out or show them something they might not have known.

Side note: At roughly 28 bucks a quart Chevy is very proud of this fluid, but i was worried about going aftermarket with this particular fluid because of the ELSD in this car.

I was thinking it would be like 10 to 15 a quart. So I struted up to the parts counter like a peacock and said let me get to quarts of the rear end fluid for my ZL1. He asked if I wanted to know the price i proudly proclaimed "doesn't matter, i need it". Then he printed out the invoice for 58 bucks. So i paid that shit and left. lol

Thanks for the kind words man, I try to make them to explain stuff out so anyone can do it watching my videos.

I've added this video with credit to the oil and diff sticky thread. If you don't mind, I will leave it there. Nice video.

Heck if the diff oil was cheaper, due to flush n fill, and then rinse and repeat again in 100 miles to get it all out I say lol.

Nice vid. I'll be doing this procedure very soon with some Royal Purple diff fluid instead of the over priced AC delco.

i usually use Amsoil fluids but was afraid to do that with this car because of the ELSD. I did not know if the fluid was specific or not..

The eLSD requires a critical additive that is present in the OEM fluid. It's likely this additive that contributes to the higher price of the fluid; this isn't standard gear oil. I know people have purchased an additive on its own and attempted to add it but then there have been cases where it doesn't meld or mix properly. Isn't the extra $10, $20 or even $30 worth it for the peace of mind?

This, no way I would use anything other than the specified oil in this differential. Amazon has it for $13.99 Prime. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...KIKX0DER&psc=1

I buy Royal Purple because it's a local company and for the Synerlec additive. The eLSD friction modifier is already in the bottle so no need to add. I'll let you guys know if RP gear oil grenades my diff. I'll be the guinea pig lol.

From Royal Purple:

Max Gear 75W-90 is recommended for use in truck and automotive front or rear differentials, manual transmissions and lower gear units of marine engines that specify the use of an API GL-5 or GL-4 fluid. It is non-corrosive to soft yellow metals (brass, bronze, copper, etc.) and synchronizer safe. Specially designed to extend gear and bearing life, Max Gear provides superior corrosion protection over competing conventional and synthetic gear oils. We engineered this ultra-tough, high performance automotive hypoid gear oil to provide maximum protection to heavily loaded gears while maximizing power throughout the drive train. Above all, Max Gear outperforms ordinary gear oils by combining the highest quality synthetic oils with Royal Purple’s proprietary Synerlec® additive technology. As a result, Max Gear makes gears run smoother, quieter, cooler and longer without overhauls. A direct reduction of drag in the drive train has a huge advantage for trucks and other 4-wheel drive vehicles, therefore, better gas mileage. Formulated with a friction modifier additive, therefore no additional additives are necessary. Max Gear is available in the following viscosities: 75W-90, 75W-140, 80W-90, 85W-140 and SAE 90
