How much trouble (realistically) is it to swap out the Intake manifold?

How's it going everyone?

My first post on the forums (though I've been browsing here for long while)

My question is rather simplistic; but being a nervous old coot I thought I'd ask for your own opinions.

Before I go any further, I will say that I have some experience working on cars. But it's been quite a few years since I've done so.

Anywho, I was thinking of springing for the Overkill TB and Manifold set.

I'm aware that it's only 11 or so bolts to remove the manifold, including the one for the engine cover (not counting the TB). But what always worries me are all the wiring harnesses and sensors. I feel like between that, and the manifold being plastic, one could easily find themselves in a bad situation. Not sure how finicky these motors are when having their sensors messed with. I miss the simpler days when not every single part of my engine had a hundred wires coming out of it....

So please enlighten me as to your own experiences! Is my assessment overblown?

Thanks everyone

Not all that hard once you figure things out. If you swap them over make sure to swap over the little green seals on each intake runner. You’ll probably need a u-joint for the furthest back bolts on the top, and a 10 mm wrench for the two on the back of the manifold. Also keep in mind that the back left bolt (if you’re sitting behind the wheel) on top should be loosened but not taken out of the manifold when pulling it out and should be put back in before you try to seat your new manifold.

It’s an hour job. I’ve got taking off my LFX mani down to about 20 minutes to take off and 20 to put back on. Now that’s not the LGX, but they are similar.
If your slightly mechanicaly inclined, it shouldn’t be an issue. Leaning into the engine bay is the toughest part.

Took me about 2 hours. That's including the 10 minutes I spent looking for my U-joint, and 45 minutes it took to cut(multiple times) the intake boot so the intake tube would fit right.

Thank you for the replies everyone!

The collective input says I'm way overthinking it hahaha.

Dustya that video was indeed very informative, it's much appreciated

So is the consensus that i should just fire it up and let her run for 10-15 minutes afterwards?

I'm feeling a lot more confident, and looking forward to the upgrade!

if you have basic common sense and basic hand tools, not hard at all...

legit that's all I used, didn't look up any tutorials, videos, etc... just walked out to the car, and did it.

Just recently installed the JacFab manifold. Thanks, Dustya for the video. It was a lot of help and made the install go much faster than it otherwise would have.

Not hard. Just as a mod on its own it is hard to justify alone. Normally do with other mods. Like a cam on a v8

No problem like I said not the best video but glad it helped.

After doing said mod, i disagree.

There are no cams for the v6 lgx. All i run are a ported tb, and gm intake. Hell of a increase and response.

Polynesian,

A bit off topic, but while you're here...could I ask why you decided to switch to the GMPP intake from the AFE one you used to have? Was it throwing codes, or did you just want to address any potential warranty issues?
