Short throw shifter
Anyone have one for the zl1 or plan on getting one? Are they even out yet? Yes, I know the car has one already but the throws are still kinda long to me...

I thought about a Barton since that is what I had on the SS but this car does not need it. Short & precise. Not 'click click' short but good enough for competing on track.

I came from a 2013 1LE, the shifter in the ZL1 is not as nice I feel as what was in my 1LE, longer throws and more of a "rubbery" feel to it, almost what I would expect from a front wheel drive car with a cable shifter.

i played around with a 17 1le stick on the show room today and it had a lot of play in the shifter. 1le felt rubbery and sloppy. is the zl1 different? does the shifter firm up with less front back side to side play when actually driving it?

MGW is the only way to go, all my fast manual cars have been given one. Yes install takes a little longer than just a simple short throw, but it's worth it.

I did a MGW in my 14 Mustang GT, then transferred it to my 15 GT. It was a pita compared to a LS1 Fbody, that's for sure. It made a big difference, but still couldn't make up for the fact of how remotely mounted the shifter is. 3rd gear WOT shifts were the most vague feeling ever. The shifter itself was a work of art though, but quite expensive at $560.

I never had an issue with my 650 wheel 2014, and as you can see from my avatar, I put her through the paces. Install was a breeze for the most part. 90 minutes max. Compared to the stocker your 3rd gear shifts were vague? That's...bass ackwards in my book. I used to get 3rd gear lockout with the stocker, before adding the Prothane bushing. It helped, for sure, but it wasn't 100%. After that I added the steeda trans mount bushing and the MGW. Never looked back. MGW or GTFO! |

Ok seems like MGW is the only option. When it comes out.

With the design, normally, it's not just the upper stick. It's not just, "in theory" a short throw shifter, IE, just reduces the travel in the actual stick, it's actually including the lower box and attachment pieces. It's the best on the market. See the difference? |
