Any suggestions on a cleaning medium? I want to scrub, but not scratch.

Thanks for any tips.

Where did all the rust come from?
It's like a wheel where the brakes went metal to metal.

I use GM rim spray cleaner and it does an excellent job.
I then use GM rim wax. Both products seem to do a very nice job. I buy them right at a dealer. Hope this helps.

Not rust.

Swipes off with a finger.

I think it is residue from my Hawk pads.

Going to pull one, throughly clean, ceramic coat and see what happens.

Have insurance claim in. Thus, before you buy new wheels... have a body/mechanic shop to do an assesment. You mave have alignment supension issues unseen to the naked eye.

Paying a deductable may be cheeper in the long run.

I use adams wheel cleaner as well and have never had any issues until i switched to PowerStop Track Days. My wheels were ceramic coated before i switched pads and just started to show a bit of the orange stuff your pic shows. Last weekend I purchased some Iron X Paste and scrubbed it in while the wheels were on the car...definitely helped. I think if I take the wheels off completely and take my time they'll be good as new. Just my fronts as well.

Just replaced rear wheel on mine. Chevy sent me this as reference. If u order from gm it’s cheaper but u pay shipping so depending where u live in location to gm it can b expensive. Keep an eye on discounts tho. Think there doin 15% off right now

If the rims are $540 each then why not put a claim in. It will ensure that you have the alignment and any other parts that are suspect bent in the suspension taken care of. From looking at the pics it had to have a good amout of impact to bend/crack the rim.

Rats sorry to hear that for sure. Time and labor is going to be the killer in the pocket book.

20 months of improper care, man what are you doing to these?! The rust from the lugs is more than enough to tell the story of improper care here... let us know what not to use on our wheels please!

Because there's obvious rust leaking from the lugs dripping down onto the wheels?

Yes, that is rust.
